Many Nigerian parents and grandmothers believe that when a baby bends like this or starts passing through legs often, it means:
👶 “Another baby is coming.”
🤰 “The mother is already pregnant.”
This belief is very common in many homes 😂❤️
But medically and developmentally, this behavior is actually very normal in babies and toddlers.

As a nurse, let me explain it simply:
Children do this mainly because of:
✔️ Curiosity
✔️ Flexibility
✔️ Playfulness
✔️ Body exploration
✔️ Developing motor skills

Toddlers naturally enjoy strange positions because their bodies are still very flexible. Their joints, muscles, and spine can bend much easier than adults’.

Many babies find it funny to:
• Bend upside down
• Crawl into tight places
• Climb everything
• Roll around
• Pass through their legs
• Watch the world upside down

To them, it is simply play and exploration.

Scientifically, there is NO proven medical connection between a child doing this and the mother becoming pregnant.

A child cannot “detect pregnancy” by bending upside down.

What usually happens is this:
When mothers become pregnant, adults in the family may start observing every little thing the child does and connect it spiritually or culturally.

So if the mother later becomes pregnant, people say:
“Ahhh we knew it! The child was already showing signs!” 😂

This is more of a cultural belief and family tradition than medical science.

However, excessive bending or unusual movements may sometimes happen more often in:
✔️ Very active toddlers
✔️ Children seeking attention
✔️ Sensory-seeking children
✔️ Naturally flexible children

Usually, it is harmless.
Otherwise, most times the child is simply being a child 😂❤️

Nigerian children can turn any place into gymnastic competition ground:
Sofa ✔️
Wall ✔️
Bed ✔️
Mother’s back ✔️

So dear mothers…
Your child bending upside down is not reliable pregnancy test kit 😭😂

Sometimes the only thing it means is:
“That child has plenty energy and no fear.” 🤍

Nigerians, please be careful with spoiled tomatoes. 🍅⚠️

What you are seeing in this picture is NOT “normal soft tomatoes.”
These tomatoes are already rotting and growing visible mold/fungi.

Many people still buy this type because tomatoes are expensive and they want to “manage” it by cutting off the bad part.

But here is the health truth:
Once tomatoes start rotting deeply and growing mold, harmful microorganisms and toxins may have already spread beyond the visibly bad area.

Even if you remove the spoiled part, some dangerous substances can remain inside the “good-looking” part.

Eating heavily spoiled tomatoes may increase the risk of:
⚠️ Food poisoning
⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️ Diarrhea
⚠️ Stomach pain
⚠️ Infections
⚠️ Worse illness in children, pregnant women, elderly people, and people with weak immunity

The white stuff seen on the tomatoes is likely mold/fungal growth.
Some molds can produce toxins that are not completely removed by washing or cooking.

In many Nigerian homes now, because of hardship and high food prices, people try to salvage spoiled food to avoid waste. This struggle is understandable. But health should still be protected as much as possible.

Please know the difference:

🍅 Slightly soft tomato:
Can sometimes still be usable if there is no bad smell, no mold, and no extensive rot.

❌ Moldy, leaking, slimy, or badly rotten tomato:
Best to throw it away.

Health tips for Nigerians:
✔️ Buy tomatoes in smaller quantities if possible
✔️ Store in a cool dry place
✔️ Remove one spoiling tomato quickly before it affects others
✔️ Wash baskets and storage containers regularly
✔️ Blend and refrigerate/freeze fresh tomatoes early if you cannot cook immediately

Parents especially should avoid using spoiled tomatoes for children’s food.

That “manage it like that” mentality sometimes ends in hospital treatment for food poisoning.

Food is expensive, yes.
But sickness is even more expensive. 🤍
