WACPNG50 officially opened with a ceremony worthy of its Golden Jubilee.

The Opening Ceremony brought together distinguished guests, Fellows, Members, trainees, policymakers and healthcare leaders from across West Africa to celebrate fifty years of excellence, collaboration and service.

It was a powerful reminder of the College’s enduring legacy and its commitment to advancing healthcare through education, research and partnership.

As the conference unfolds, we look forward to the conversations, knowledge sharing and connections that will continue to shape the future of medicine across the region.

Yesterday evening, delegates gathered for the Welcome Cocktail hosted at the Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, a warm and memorable start to the Golden Jubilee Conference.

We are deeply grateful to His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, for graciously sponsoring and hosting this special reception.

It was an evening of fellowship, meaningful conversations and warm hospitality, giving delegates from across West Africa the opportunity to connect and celebrate the beginning of what promises to be an impactful week at WACPNG50.

As we mark the 50th anniversary of the West African College of Physicians (WACPNG50), we proudly honor the Foundation Fellows of the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences.

Their visionary leadership in pathology, research, and diagnostics established the bedrock of modern medical practice across West Africa.

​By bridging the gap between laboratory discovery and patient care, these pioneers have shaped generations of clinical scholars and transformed healthcare delivery.
