Things I’m NOT normalizing for my future kids 🚫
As a doctor, I’ve seen what everyday habits quietly do to our health over time and some things just won’t make it into my home.

This is not me trying to be extreme, but because I understand the long-term cost of “small” daily choices.

Healthy living isn’t about perfection,t’s about being intentional with what becomes your normal.

If you grew up on these, no shame at all but you can choose differently moving forward.

Your body is always keeping score.

If you want to learn how to start making healthier food choices without feeling overwhelmed, send me a DM with “RESET” 💬

What my plate looks like👇
It’s built around stable blood sugar, low inflammation, strong immune function, and nutrient density.

1. My plate is mostly Whole Foods
• Vegetables (especially greens like ugu, spinach, broccoli)
• Fruits

2. I don’t joke with fiber
• Oats, brown rice, beans, sweet potatoes
• Helps gut health = lowers cancer risk

3. I include protective foods daily
• Garlic, ginger, turmeric
• Tomatoes (rich in lycopene)
• Green tea (if accessible)

4. I reduce processed foods
• Less instant noodles, sausages, sugary snacks

5. I choose better proteins
• Fish, chicken, eggs, legumes
• Limit excessive red & processed meat

6. I cook smarter
• Less deep frying, more steaming, grilling, boiling
• Avoid burnt/charred foods

7. I watch my sugar intake
• Sugary drinks → replaced with water

8. I hydrate intentionally
• Water > soft drinks

9. I keep it consistent, not perfect
• It’s about daily habits, not extremes

You don’t have to wait for a diagnosis before you start eating right.
Your daily meals are either protecting you or working against you.
Start small. Stay consistent.

This post is majorly about Type 2 Diabetes and other lifestyle diseases like Hypertension,Obesity, etc

Yes, genetics can increase your risk…
But what actually brings it out is often the lifestyle you repeat daily.
Same family.Same meals.Same habits.Same outcome.

It’s not just inheritance… it’s imitation.
But the good news is that you can break the cycle!

Start small:
• Eat more real, whole foods (reduce excess sugar & processed carbs!🙏🏽)
• Move your body daily (even 20–30 mins walk counts)
• Maintain a healthy weight
• Prioritize sleep!!😴
• Manage stress (your BP & sugar are watching)

You may not control your genes…
But you can control your daily choices.

And those choices? They add up.
I hope this helps someone out there, now share it to who you think needs to hear this❤️

I’ve seen many patients become really scared about kidney problems. Sometimes even a minor symptom makes them worry their kidneys are failing and that concern is understandable, kidney health is important. But in many cases, the kidneys are actually functioning well.
So here are some reassuring signs that your kidneys are likely healthy 👇

1. You urinate regularly without pain or burning
Healthy kidneys filter waste and remove it through urine smoothly. Passing urine comfortably and regularly (i.e the more water you take the more you ease yourself),then that’s a good sign your kidneys are doing their job.
2. Your urine is light yellow or clear
Urine that is pale yellow usually shows good hydration and normal kidney filtration. Very dark urine or persistent foaming can sometimes suggest a problem.
3. You don’t have persistent swelling in your legs, face, or hands
When kidneys work well, they maintain fluid balance in the body. Constant swelling (especially around the eyes or ankles) can sometimes mean the kidneys are struggling to remove excess fluid.
4. Your blood pressure is within a healthy range
Kidneys help regulate blood pressure. Consistently normal blood pressure can indicate that the kidneys are functioning well.
5. You feel generally energetic
Healthy kidneys help maintain the balance of electrolytes and support red blood cell production, which helps prevent unusual fatigue.
6. No persistent lower back pain near the kidney area
Kidney problems can sometimes cause pain at the back just below the ribs. Absence of persistent pain there can be a reassuring sign.

Note‼️: Even when these signs are present, regular health checks are still important. Your kidneys can lose function quietly.

In the next post we would be talking about how to take care of our kidneys🫘
