One eye turning in, out, up, or down is not something a child will always “outgrow” on its own. 👀

Strabismus, commonly called “crossed eyes” or “squint,” happens when the eyes are not properly aligned and do not look in the same direction at the same time.

In children, this is important because the brain can begin to ignore the weaker eye over time, which may lead to poor vision development (lazy eye) if not treated early.

Some signs parents may notice include:
• Eyes that appear misaligned
• Frequent squinting or head tilting
• Difficulty focusing
• Poor depth perception

Early detection can make a huge difference. Treatment may include glasses, patching therapy, eye exercises, or other forms of management depending on the cause.

Routine eye examinations are important for proper visual development and overall learning. 🤍

Many common eye conditions develop quietly without obvious symptoms at first. By the time symptoms appear, the condition may already be advanced. Your eyes work hard every day and barely get a break except when you are asleep. That is why being intentional and proactive about caring for them can make a meaningful difference over time.

One of the most important steps you can take to maintain healthy vision is to schedule regular comprehensive eye exams. Even if your vision seems perfectly fine, conditions such as glaucoma or age-related macular degeneration can develop quietly without any noticeable symptoms.

Regular check-ups help catch them early, when they are still easier to manage.

Tetrachromacy is the condition of possessing four types of cone cells in the eye instead of the usual three.

Tetrachromats may see variations in color, such as hues in brown, yellow, or pink, that are invisible to most, sometimes described as seeing new colors rather than just finer shades.

While rare in humans, tetrachromacy is common in birds, fish, and reptiles. These animals can perceive ultraviolet light, which aids in foraging, mating, and navigation.

Estrogen and progesterone can have dramatic effects on blood flow, tear fluid production and ocular tissues.

These life changes often lead to temporary or chronic eye conditions, including dry eye syndrome, blurred vision and increased susceptibility to serious diseases like glaucoma.
