POSTERIOR PLACENTA MEANS IT’S A BOY?

Let’s talk about this one because I’ve seen this claim so many times online! 😂

Some people say:

“If your placenta is at the back of your uterus (posterior), you’re having a boy.”

But who started this rumour? 🤔

The truth is, the position of your placenta does NOT determine your baby’s s*x.

A posterior placenta simply means the placenta is attached to the back wall of the uterus.

You can have a posterior placenta and give birth to:
💙 A boy
🩷 A girl

The same thing applies to an anterior placenta. It can occur in pregnancies with either s*x.

📌 So if your scan report says “posterior placenta,” don’t start shopping for blue clothes just yet!

📍 Your baby’s s*x is not determined by where the placenta is attached.

And yes… this is another pregnancy myth we need to retire!

MYTH: “YOUR BELLY SHAPE CAN TELL YOUR BABY’S GENDER”

Have you ever heard someone look at a pregnant woman and say:

“Your belly is pointed… you’re having a boy!”

Or:

“Your belly is very round… definitely a girl!”

But who actually started this belief?

There isn’t one known person who invented it. It’s an old wives’ tale that has been passed down from one generation to another.

And honestly, it sounds believable until you understand what actually affects the shape of a pregnancy bump.

Your belly shape can be influenced by your baby’s position, your body shape, abdominal muscles, posture, whether you've been pregnant before, and other factors.

So two women carrying baby boys can have completely different bump shapes.

And two women carrying baby girls can also have completely different bumps.

So, can you really look at a pregnant woman’s belly and know her baby’s gender?

📌 No. Belly shape is NOT a reliable way to determine your baby’s s*x.

So the next time someone looks at your bump and confidently says, “I already know what you're having!”

Just smile and ask:

“Are you sure, or is it the belly talking?” 😂

An ectopic pregnancy happens when a fertilized egg implants outside the main cavity of the uterus, most commonly inside a fallopian tube.
But what makes this happen?

There isn't always one single cause. In many cases, anything that damages or affects the normal movement of the fertilized egg through the fallopian tube can increase the risk.
Some important risk factors include:

✓ Previous ectopic pregnancy
Having had an ectopic pregnancy before increases the chance of another one.

✓ Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
Previous pelvic infections, inflammation, surgery or scarring can affect the tube.

✓ Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
Certain untreated s*xually transmitted infections can cause inflammation and scarring in the reproductive tract.

✓ Previous surgery on the fallopian tubes
Tubal surgery can sometimes affect how the tube functions.

✓ Endometriosis
It can cause inflammation and scarring around the reproductive organs.

✓ Pregnancy with an IUD in place
IUDs are highly effective at preventing pregnancy. However, if pregnancy occurs while an IUD is in place, the pregnancy is more likely to be ectopic.

✓ Fertility treatment such as IVF
Assisted reproductive technologies can slightly increase the risk.

✓ Smoking
Smoking is also associated with an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy.

📌 But here's something important:
Sometimes, an ectopic pregnancy happens even when none of these risk factors are present.
So please don't automatically blame yourself.

If you have a positive pregnancy test and develop one-sided lower abdominal pain, unusual va**nal bleeding, dizziness, fainting, or shoulder-tip pain, seek urgent medical care.

📌 An ectopic pregnancy can become life-threatening if it ruptures, so early assessment matters.

Have you ever had light bleeding around the time your period was due and thought, “My period has started”?

Sometimes, bleeding in very early pregnancy can be mistaken for a period because the timing can be similar.

Here’s why

✓ The timing can be confusing
Implantation bleeding, when it occurs, may happen around the time someone expects their period, making it easy to assume menstruation has started.

✓ Both can involve va**nal bleeding
The biggest reason for confusion is simple: both can cause blood or spotting from the va**na.

✓ It may start as spotting
Implantation bleeding is generally described as light spotting, rather than a normal or heavy menstrual flow.

✓ The colour may vary
It can appear pink, brown, or light red, which can look different from one person's usual period.

✓ Your period may also be lighter than usual
Periods don't always look exactly the same every month.

📌 A lighter-than-usual period can therefore make someone wonder whether it was actually early-pregnancy bleeding.

📌 But here's the important part…
Bleeding alone cannot confirm pregnancy.
If your period seems unusual and pregnancy is possible, the best way to know is to take a pregnancy test, preferably after your missed period or according to the test instructions.

📍 not every early pregnancy bleed is implantation bleeding.

📌 Bleeding during pregnancy can have several causes, so significant, persistent, or painful bleeding should be assessed by a healthcare professional.
