Public Health Nurse | Heart Health Educator ❤️
Helping Nigerians prevent and manage high blood pressure, stroke, and heart disease through simple, practical, evidence-based health education. Every day in the emergency room, I see the same pattern—conditions that did not start as emergencies but became crises because of misinformation, delay, or silence. This page exists to break that cycle. Here, I teach practical, prevention-focused health truths using real-life ER experiences, Nigerian realities, and plain language. No fear-mongering. No medical noise. Just clear explanations that help you make smarter health decisions early. What you’ll find here:

- Preventive health education you can actually use

- Medical myths explained and corrected

- Everyday symptoms people ignore—decoded

- Health advice grounded in science, experience, and context

- Stories from the ER that teach before damage is done

My approach is simple: education before medication, prevention before panic. If you care about your health, your family’s well-being, and avoiding unnecessary hospital visits, you’re in the right place. This page is for learning, not diagnosis. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for personal medical care.

If you have high blood pressure or heart failure, exercise is NOT automatically your enemy.

In fact, the right amount and type of physical activity can be good for your heart.

But there is a BIG difference between:

“I am exercising and my heart is working harder.”

and:

“My body is warning me that something may be wrong.”

The dangerous mistake is seeing a warning sign and saying:

“Let me just finish this exercise first.” 😩

Please don’t.

Sometimes the safest exercise decision you can make is to STOP.

Here are 5 warning signs you should take seriously. 👇🏽

Having high blood pressure does NOT mean you should sit down all day and avoid exercise.

In fact, regular physical activity can help lower blood pressure and protect your heart and blood vessels.

But there is one important thing:

Don’t go from “I hardly exercise” to suddenly behaving like you are preparing for the Olympics. 😂

If you have high blood pressure, especially if you have not been active for a long time,

here are 5 safer ways to start moving more.

If you have high blood pressure, exercise is not your enemy.

In fact, regular physical activity can help bring your blood pressure down, strengthen your heart, improve your fitness, help with weight control and reduce stress.

But there is a problem.

Some people with hypertension either avoid exercise completely because they are afraid their blood pressure will rise…

While others suddenly start doing very intense exercise because they want to “sweat the sickness out.”

Both approaches can be problematic.

So, if you have hypertension, please remember these 5 things.

If you have heart failure, your doctor is not the only person who should be watching your condition.

YOU should be watching it too.

Why?

Because sometimes, your body starts showing small warning signs before the problem becomes serious.

And you may be the first person to notice them.

So today, let me show you 5 simple things every person living with heart failure can do to keep an eye on their condition.

No big medical grammar.

Just things you can actually do. 👇🏽

If someone is being treated for heart failure, the doctor may keep checking their kidney function and blood tests.

And no, it does NOT necessarily mean:

“Something is wrong with the kidneys.”

Sometimes, the tests are being done because the heart medicines themselves need to be monitored carefully.

Let me explain it like I’m sitting beside you. 👇🏽

Imagine the heart is a pump that is struggling to move blood around the body properly.

The doctor gives medicines to help the heart, reduce excess fluid, control blood pressure and make the heart work more efficiently.

But while these medicines are helping, the doctor also needs to make sure the kidneys, salts in the blood and other parts of the body are coping well.

So why all these blood tests?

Here are 5 important reasons.

Starting treatment for heart failure is not the end of the road.

In fact, what you do in the first few weeks after diagnosis can make a BIG difference in how well you live with the condition.

And no, heart failure does not mean the heart has completely stopped working.

It means the heart is not pumping blood as well as the body needs. With the right treatment and regular follow-up, many people can still live meaningful, active lives.

So, if you or someone you love has just been diagnosed with heart failure, here are 5 things I want you to do. ❤️

If you have heart failure, your medicines are not just there to make you “feel better.”

Some of them are working quietly in the background to reduce the strain on your heart, control fluid in your body, and help prevent your condition from getting worse.

But here is the problem:

Many people take their heart medicines without really understanding what those medicines are doing.

And when you don’t understand your medicine, it becomes easier to stop it when you feel better, change the dose yourself, or start another medicine without checking.

So let’s make this ridiculously simple. ❤️

Here are 5 things every person living with heart failure should know about their medicines.

If you have high blood pressure, one of the things you should be protecting your heart from is heart failure.

And before you panic, let me explain something important:

Heart failure does NOT mean the heart has stopped working.

It means the heart has become too weak or too stiff to pump blood around the body properly.

And high blood pressure can slowly push the heart toward that problem if it is not properly controlled.

So, if you have hypertension, here are 5 things I really want you to know. ❤️

Extremely high blood pressure with brain symptoms can be a medical emergency called hypertensive encephalopathy.

This can happen when blood pressure rises to dangerously high levels and overwhelms the brain’s ability to properly regulate blood flow. The result can be swelling and dysfunction of the brain.

Long-standing, uncontrolled blood pressure can silently damage the brain and contribute to vascular dementia.

Many people think dementia is simply part of getting old. Others may describe an older person as lazy, stubborn, or even say that something spiritual is responsible when they begin to forget things or behave differently.

But there can be a medical reason.
