FINAL EXTENSION NOTICE – APPLICATIONS CLOSE 8 JUNE 2026

The Kano Independent Research Centre Trust (KIRCT) wishes to inform all interested applicants that the deadline for applications to the Foundational Bioinformatics Training (1-Week Intensive) has been extended for the final time to 8 June 2026.

This extension is intended to provide a final opportunity for prospective participants who have not yet completed their registration.

The training will cover:
🔹 Linux Command Line & Bash Scripting
🔹 Introduction to Genomics & Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
🔹 Sequence Data Formats
🔹 Quality Control & Basic Analyses
🔹 Bioinformatics Tools & Databases
🔹 Reproducibility and Workflow Basics

Registration Fee: ₦150,000

1. INTERNAL AUDITOR

Employment Type: Full-time

JOB SUMMARY

The Internal Auditor will be responsible for evaluating and improving

the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance

processes within KIRCT. This role ensures financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and the efficient use of organizational resources across

research and clinical operations.

Educational Qualification

The candidate should possess: • A minimum of bachelor’s degree or HND in:

* Accounting

* Finance

* Economics

* Business Administration or related discipline.

A master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance, Accounting, or related field) will

be an added advantage.

Professional Certification

* Candidate should possess at least one recognized professional qualification such as:

* Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)

* Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)

* Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

* Institute of Internal Auditors (CIA certification is highly desirable)

* Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) will be an added advantage.

Required Experience

* Minimum of 7–10 years relevant working experience in:

* Internal Audit

* Risk Management

* Compliance

* Financial Control

* Grant/Donor Fund Management

* At least 3–5 years in a senior supervisory or managerial role.

Experience working with:

* NGOs

* Research Institutions

* International donor-funded projects

* Healthcare or public health organizations will be an added advantage.

JOB SUMMARY

The Communications Officer will be responsible for managing KIRCT’s

internal and external communications, enhancing visibility, and promoting the organization’s research, healthcare services, and strategic initiatives to stakeholders and the public.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement communication strategies.

* Prepare reports, press releases, and official correspondence.

* Manage website and social media platforms.

* Promote KIRCT’s research outputs and institutional activities.

* Support stakeholder engagement and partnership initiatives.

* Create content for digital and print media.

* Translate technical research concepts into simplified public

messages.

* Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all

platforms.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mass communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or any related field.

3. INVENTORY OFFICER

JOB SUMMARY

The Inventory Officer will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate records of all inventories within KIRCT’s Research Laboratory and Clinic. This role ensures timely replenishment, proper storage, and compliance with safety standards while supporting operational

efficiency and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

* Maintain accurate records of laboratory and clinic inventory.

* Monitor stock levels and initiate timely replenishment.

* Ensure proper storage and handling of sensitive materials (e.g.,

reagents, medicines).

* Implement inventory control systems and conduct regular audits.

* Coordinate with procurement and vendors for timely supply.

* Prepare monthly inventory reports for management.

* Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

* Support cost-saving initiatives through efficient stock management.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business

Administration, or any related field.

* Certification in Inventory Management or Procurement is an added

advantage.

* Minimum of 2–3 years working experience in inventory or stock

management, preferably in healthcare or laboratory settings.

4. INTERNAL SECURITY OFFICER

JOB SUMMARY

The Internal Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of KIRCT’s staff, facilities, equipment, and operations.

This role involves implementing security measures, monitoring

risks, and responding to incidents to maintain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement security policies and procedures.

* Monitor and control access to restricted areas and facilities.

* Supervise and coordinate activities of security personnel.

* Conduct regular security risk assessments and inspections.

* Respond promptly to security incidents and emergencies.

* Ensure protection of research laboratories, hospital facilities, and

assets.

* Maintain security records and prepare incident reports.

Required Qualifications

Certificates of Participation were presented to participants at the conclusion of the African BioGenome Project (AfricaBP) Applied Molecular Diagnostic Workshop held at the Kano Independent Research Centre Trust (KIRCT) Research Laboratory.

The three-day hands-on training provided practical experience in Molecular Diagnostics, DNA Extraction, PCR Techniques, and RFLP Genotyping, contributing to capacity building in genomics and bioinformatics across the region.

HAPPENING NOW AT KIRCT – DAY 3 (FINAL DAY)

The African BioGenome Project (AfricaBP) Applied Molecular Diagnostic Workshop concludes today at the Kano Independent Research Centre Trust (KIRCT) Research Laboratory.

Day 3, the final day of the intensive hands-on workshop, marks the culmination of three impactful days of practical training, scientific collaboration, and knowledge exchange in Applied Molecular Diagnostics. Participants have continued to strengthen their expertise in DNA Extraction, PCR techniques, RFLP Genotyping, and other molecular biology applications essential for advancing genomics and biomedical research in Africa.

Since the workshop began on 6 May 2026, researchers, scientists, academics, and industry professionals from across the continent have actively engaged in laboratory practicals, technical discussions, and collaborative learning sessions aimed at building sustainable research capacity and promoting innovation in genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular diagnostics.

As the workshop comes to a close today, it reflects the shared commitment of AfricaBP and KIRCT towards strengthening scientific research, fostering regional collaboration, and advancing Africa-led solutions in biodiversity, health, and genomic sciences.

HAPPENING NOW AT KIRCT – DAY 2

The African BioGenome Project (AfricaBP) Applied Molecular Diagnostic Workshop continues today at the Kano Independent Research Centre Trust (KIRCT) Research Laboratory.

Day 2 of the intensive hands-on training is building on yesterday’s practical sessions, with participants deepening their skills in Molecular Diagnostics, DNA Extraction, PCR techniques, and RFLP Genotyping.

The workshop, taking place from 6–8 May 2026, continues to bring together researchers, scientists, academics, and industry professionals from across Africa in a collaborative learning environment focused on advancing genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular biology research across the continent.

Participants are actively engaging in laboratory practicals, knowledge exchange, and technical discussions aimed at strengthening research capacity and promoting innovation in biomedical and genomic sciences in Africa.
