Women’s Health Awareness 💡

If you are Rhesus negative (O-, A-, B-, or AB-), this is something you need to know.

During pregnancy, miscàrriage, abórtion, or delivery, your blood may mix with your baby’s bloód. If your baby is Rhesus positive, your body can produce antibodies against it.

In future pregnancies, these antibodies may attack the baby’s red bloód cells. This condition is known as Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn.

The good news is that this can be prevented.

A simple injection called Rho(D) Immune Globulin helps protect you and your future babies. It is usually given:
• During pregnancy
• After miscàrriage or abórtion
• After delivery (if the baby is Rhesus positive)

Many people focus only on genotype, but your Rhesus factor is just as important.
