Preeclampsia is not always about swollen leg
She was a 25 year old mother of 2.
Presented at 36 weeks for her routine antenatal.
Routine vitals was checked and her blood pressure was very high.
Her urine showed 3+ of protein.
She was surprised because,
There was no headache,
No swollen leg
No tummy pain
No blurry vision
She was feeling very okay.
She was sent to the labour ward for delivery,
But she was counselled for CS.
Initially she rejected it, because that was her 3rd and she never experienced such.
I took it personal.
Counselling is my best specialty😁
After 10 minutes, she signed and we went in.
The husband was in another state, so we reassured him.
Luckily, the hospital didn't need deposit and materials were provided.
Within 5 minutes in the theatre, baby was out.
The woman promised to buy me a car for taking time to counsel her. (I never see my car, shaa).
She was happy and later brought her family to thank me.
Preeclampsia can be silent yet very deadly.
It caused 20 deaths in every 100
The best way to save a woman is to diagnose it early, and manage it well.
The easiest way to diagnose it is to check your blood pressure weekly and track it (Use Preggify App)
Then do your urinalysis weekly from 22 weeks(it is easy to do at home).
When in doubt, speak to a doctor immediately (available on the Preggify App.
