Addiction: What It Is and Its Effects
What is Addiction?
Addiction is a condition in which a person becomes unable to stop using a substance or engaging in a behavior, even when it is causing harm. It affects the brain, emotions, relationships, and daily life. Over time, the person may feel a strong urge or craving that becomes difficult to control.

Hope for Recovery
Recovery is possible. Healing often begins when a person acknowledges the problem, seeks support from trusted people, receives appropriate professional care when needed, and, for those of faith, draws strength from God through prayer, Scripture, and a supportive Christian community.
> "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." — John 8:36 (NIV)
Addiction does not have to define a person's future. With the right support, treatment, and hope, lasting recovery is possible.
