The Alberta government introduced legislation in April 2026 to keep the province on daylight saving time year‑round (branded “Alberta Time”).
• That legislation (an omnibus bill including an Official Time Act / Bill 31) passed first reading but had not completed all legislative steps or received royal assent as of late April–May 2026.
• Government statements and news reports say the plan would stop the clocks from being set back in autumn (i.e., no “fall back” on Nov. 1) if the bill becomes law, and officials discussed coordinating implementation with device makers and stakeholders.
• Health experts generally recommend permanent standard time for circadian health, while governments often choose permanent daylight time to extend evening light; both points were noted in coverage of the decision.
• For the change to be legally official and enforceable, the bill must complete the legislative process and be proclaimed into law; until then the change remains proposed/planned, not fully official

Important Travel Alert for Anyone Flying from Canada 🇨🇦✈️

Recent confirmed news: RCMP arrested six airport baggage/ramp workers at Toronto Pearson Airport in connection with a luggage-tag switching drug-smuggling scheme [CBC, CTV, RCMP reports].
What happened:
• Workers allegedly removed baggage tags from innocent travelers’ suitcases and attached them to bags filled with drugs.
• When those bags were intercepted abroad, innocent passengers were detained and arrested for drug trafficking.
• At least 17 travelers have been caught up in this scheme so far.
This is not limited to any specific nationality – victims include Canadians, Europeans, and other international travelers.
How to protect yourself when flying from Canada:
1. Take a photo or video of:
• Your suitcase
• The baggage tag number (before it goes on the belt)
• Your check-in receipt
2. Keep your baggage receipt until you collect your bag.
3. Consider using a luggage tracker (e.g., AirTag) inside your suitcase.
4. When collecting baggage, verify the tag number matches your receipt before leaving the carousel area.
