THINGS THAT CAN MAKE LABOUR START SUDDENLY (EVEN WHEN YOU’RE NOT READY) 😳🤰🏽

One minute you’re chatting… Next minute your waist starts doing gbam gbam 😭
Labour does not always give notice.

Let’s talk about it 👇🏽

1️⃣ WALKING A LOT
Movement helps baby press on the cervix. Sometimes that pressure is enough to say “it’s time.”

2️⃣ INTÎMACY WITH YOUR PARTNER
Sémen contains prostaglandins that soften the cervix. Or**sm can also tr!gger contractions.

3️⃣ STRESS OR STRONG EMOTIONS
Fear, shock, or sudden excitement can release hormones that start labour.

4️⃣ FULL TERM BABY
Once baby is ready, your body doesn’t need permission again. It will start on its own.

5️⃣ INFECTIONS UTIs and untreated vag!nal infections can irr!tate the womb and tri!ger labour.

6️⃣ LOW AMNIOTIC FLUID
When fluid reduces, the body may decide baby is safer outside.

7️⃣ PREVIOUS BIRTHS
Second-time mums may go into labour faster and unexpectedly.

🚨 WHEN TO RUSH TO THE HOSPITAL
✔️ Regular contractions
✔️ Water breaks
✔️ Bloody show
✔️ Severe back/waist pain that won’t stop

Don’t wait at home “to be sure.” Be sure in the hospital.

💛 REMEMBER Labour starting suddenly does not mean something is wrong.
It means your body and baby have an agreement.

Your womb is wise.
Your body knows what to do.
Your delivery will end in joy. 🥰

Fetal Malpresentation

Fetal malpresentation refers to any fetal presentation other than vertex (cephalic) presentation, where the head is flexed and the occiput presents first.

1️⃣ Types of Fetal Malpresentation

A. Breech Presentation

The buttocks or feet present first instead of the head.

Types:
• Frank breech – Hips flexed, knees extended
• Complete breech – Hips and knees flexed
• Footling breech – One or both feet present first

Causes:
• Prematurity
• Polyhydramnios / Oligohydramnios
• Uterine abnormalities
• Placenta previa
• Multiple pregnancy

Management:
• External cephalic version (ECV) at 36–37 weeks
• Planned cesarean section (common practice)
• Selected vaginal breech delivery (experienced provider)

B. Face Presentation

Head is hyperextended, and the face presents first.
• If mentum (chin) anterior → vaginal delivery possible
• If mentum posterior → usually requires cesarean section

C. Brow Presentation

Partial extension of the head (between vertex and face).
• Usually cannot deliver vaginally
• Often converts to face or vertex
• Cesarean section if persistent

D. Shoulder Presentation (Transverse Lie)

The fetus lies sideways, and the shoulder presents first.
• Common in multiparous women
• Associated with placenta previa or uterine anomalies
• Vaginal delivery impossible
• Requires cesarean section

2️⃣ Risk Factors
• Prematurity
• Multiple pregnancy
• Uterine fibroids
• Placenta previa
• Fetal anomalies
• Pelvic abnormalities

3️⃣ Diagnosis
• Abdominal palpation (Leopold’s maneuvers)
• Vaginal examination
• Ultrasound (confirmatory)

4️⃣ Complications
• Obstructed labor
• Cord prolapse
• Fetal distress
• Birth trauma
• Increased perinatal mortality

Is a C-section delivery painless? 🥲

Look at how many layers are carefully opened to bring a baby safely into the world.
Recovery isn’t just a few days — it’s a journey of strength, courage, and a mother’s love.

🔷 Skin – The first incision is made on the lower abdomen, usually horizontal.
🔷 Fat tissue – Opened carefully to reach the next layer.
🔷 Fascia (connective tissue) – A strong layer protecting the muscles is opened to access the uterus.
🔷 Abdominal muscles – Not cut, only gently pushed aside to create a path.
🔷 Peritoneum – The thin membrane lining the abdominal cavity is opened.
🔷 Outer layer of the uterus – Cut to create a safe path for the baby.
🔷 Uterus – Finally opened so the baby can be delivered safely.

Every layer tells a story of a mother’s courage.
Every cut is a path to a love that has no limits. 🥰

🚨 Ever seen a scar that just won’t stop growing?
Long after the wound has healed… the scar keeps rising, spreading, getting thicker.

That’s not normal scarring.
That’s likely a KELOID.

🧠 What exactly are keloids?
🤔 Why do some scars grow out of control?
🧬 Is it genetic or something you can catch?
❓ Can keloids actually be treated?

Let’s break it down 👇🏼

Let’s break the silence on a topic that is often ignored but is vital for women's health. Your body has a built-in communication system, and vaginal discharge is one of its loudest signals.

While it can be uncomfortable to discuss, understanding the difference between "normal" and "needs attention" is the first step in self-care.

This 3D anatomical illustration highlights the uterus and cervix, showcasing how discharge can vary in texture and color based on hormonal changes or infections:

1. The Clear & Stretchy (Ovulation):
Often represented by the clear, fluid drop, this usually occurs mid-cycle. It resembles raw egg whites and is a sign of high fertility. This is your body functioning perfectly to aid conception!

2. The Thick & White (Yeast):
If you notice discharge that looks thick, white, and clumpy (similar to cottage cheese), as seen on the left, it is often the hallmark of a Yeast Infection (Candidiasis). This is usually accompanied by intense itching and irritation.

3. The Frothy & Yellow/Green (Infection):
The drop on the right—frothy, bubbly, and yellow-green—is a major red flag. Combined with the inflamed, spotted appearance of the cervix (often called a "Strawberry Cervix"), this is a classic sign of Trichomoniasis, a common sexually transmitted infection, or other bacterial imbalances.

The Bottom Line:
A healthy cervix is usually smooth and pink. The redness and inflammation shown in the center of this artwork represent Cervicitis, which can be caused by infections or irritation.

⚠️ When to see a Doctor:
Discharge is normal, but if it comes with a foul odor, itching, burning, or pelvic pain, do not ignore it. Your reproductive health is precious. Regular screenings and Pap smears are your best defense against infections and more serious conditions like cervical cancer.
