THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WEAK CV & STRONG CV THAT GETS YOU HIRED
So yesterday, I made a post asking this scenario question
People shared exactly how they will solve it, and believe me when I say their answers are not bad at allโฆโฆbut they all missed something very important which is also the reason why clients donโt find you fit for their job after going through your CV.
If you read through all their answers, youโll see they all listed tasks they will complete, but none mentioned what the outcome would look like after using the tasks mentioned to solve the problem.
And thatโs the same mistake many people make in the Professional Experience section of their CV.
For exampleโฆ.. if you worked in Revenue Cycle Management, many people write things likeโฆ.
โข Submitted insurance claims
โข Verified patient insurance
โข Followed up on unpaid claims
โข Processed prior authorizations
The problem is not that these things are wrongโฆโฆThe problem is that employers already know these are the responsibilities of an RCM Specialist.
You donโt get hired because you reminded them the task you handle as an RCM Specialist, because they already know this.
You get hired because you showed them the VALUE you created while doing the roles/tasks.
So, instead of focusing only on tasks, focus on answering these 3 major questions
1. What problem did you solveโ
2. What action did you takeโ
3. What result did you achieveโ
For exampleโฆ.instead of sayingโฆ
Followed up on unpaid claimsโ
You can state the outcome by saying something likeโฆ..
โข Recovered over $45,000 in outstanding insurance reimbursements through consistent A/R follow-up and appeals.
Verified patient insuranceโ
โข Increased first-pass claim acceptance rate from 75% to 96% through accurate insurance verification, coding reviews, and pre-submission quality checks (proper claim scrubing)
โ Processed prior authorizations.
โข Reduced treatment delays by 60% through timely prior authorization processing and consistent insurance follow-up.
Now, did you see the differenceโ
One tells me what you didโฆ..The other tells me the impact of what you achieved, thatโs the value you brought while solving the problem.
Clients make that decision to work with you if you show them the value you can offer through your CVโฆ.. and I f your Professional Experience section is filled with task lists, youโll look like someone who can only perform task with no Problem Solving skills.
But when your CV shows outcomes, results, improvements, and value, you position yourself as someone who can actually SOLVE PROBLEMS๐
Remember, clients hire PROBLEM-SOLVERS
