First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Commissions Ultramodern Kogi State Health Insurance Agency Headquarters, Commends Gov. Ododo's Commitment to Healthcare Transformation

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday commissioned the newly constructed ultramodern headquarters of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KGSHIA) in Lokoja, describing the project as a significant milestone in the state's drive towards achieving accessible, affordable, and sustainable healthcare for its citizens.

The state-of-the-art facility, strategically located opposite the Bishop's Court in the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Lokoja, stands as a testament to the Kogi State Government's sustained investment in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to quality medical services.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Senator Tinubu emphasized the critical role of health insurance in improving healthcare delivery and protecting citizens from the financial burden associated with medical expenses. She noted that an effective health insurance system remains one of the most reliable pathways to achieving Universal Health Coverage, as it enables people to receive quality healthcare without the fear of catastrophic out-of-pocket expenditure.

The First Lady applauded the administration of Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for placing the health sector high on its development agenda, describing the establishment of the ultramodern facility as a clear demonstration of visionary leadership and commitment to the wellbeing of the people of Kogi State.

According to her, investments in healthcare infrastructure and institutions such as the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency will not only improve service delivery but also strengthen public confidence in the state's healthcare system.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Adekunle Aledare, expressed profound appreciation to the First Lady for honouring the state by personally commissioning the new headquarters despite her demanding national responsibilities.

Dr. Aledare equally commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his unwavering commitment to the health sector, noting that the administration had prudently deployed the state's limited resources to deliver a world-class administrative complex that will significantly enhance the Agency's operational efficiency.

He reaffirmed the Agency's commitment to its mandate of providing quality, affordable, and equitable healthcare services to residents across Kogi State through an efficient and inclusive health insurance scheme.

"The commissioning of this facility represents more than the completion of a building; it symbolizes a renewed commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare and ensuring that every resident of Kogi State enjoys financial protection against the cost of medical care," he stated.

The colourful ceremony attracted an array of distinguished personalities, including the First Lady of Kogi State, Her Excellency Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo; Honourable Ministers; the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA); the Director-General of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA); The Chairman of the Forum of Chief Executive Officers of State Social Health Insurance Agencies (SSHIAs); senior officials of the Kogi State Government; members of the Board of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency; and prominent leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across the country.

The commissioning of the ultramodern KGSHIA headquarters is widely regarded as another landmark achievement of the Ododo administration, reinforcing its commitment to building a resilient healthcare system and ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible and affordable for every resident of Kogi State.

The Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KGSHIA), Dr Adekunle Aledare inducted into Red cross Society of Nigeria

In recognition and appreciation of the laudable efforts of the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Adekunle Aledare in providing easy access to quality health care services through health insurance in the State, the Kogi State chapter of the Red cross Society of Nigeria inducted the Executive Secretary into the honorary membership of the organization.
The investiture of Dr Aledare took place at the Conference Hall of the office of the Secretary to Government of Kogi State, opposite Muhammad Buhari Square Lokoja.
Kogi State Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Nigeria, Benjamin Ajodo said as a pioneer Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Aledare has provided access to health insurance across the Local Government Areas of the state noting that his resilience in providing affordable healthcare services to the people of the state through the health insurance earned him the investiture of the Red Cross Society of Nigeria.
In his response, Dr Aledare said he dedicates the recognition given to him to His Excellency, the health friendly Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for giving him the opportunity to serve the state. He also thanked the Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza for his able support in the day to day activities of the Agency.
