At first, it was just fever.
A small child crying at night in a crowded room.
The mother thought it was malaria—like every other time.
So she waited.
No money for hospital yet.
Maybe it will pass.
But by morning… something changed.
The child was no longer crying.
Just staring. Silent. Strange.
Then came the seizure.
What the family didn’t know was this:
it was meningitis.
A deadly infection that can move fast—especially in young children.
And in poor communities, it spreads quietly and kills silently:
No early hospital visit because of money
Overcrowded homes where infections spread easily
No vaccines or missed immunization
Waiting too long, hoping it’s “just fever”
Distance from proper health care
By the time help comes… it is often too late.
Warning signs every parent must know:
Fever that doesn’t stop
Constant crying or unusual silence
Neck stiffness
Vomiting
Sleepiness or unconsciousness
Seizures
Poor feeding in babies
💔 The painful truth:
Many children don’t die because meningitis has no treatment…
They die because no one recognized it early.
One child. One missed sign. One delay. That is all it takes.
