In this type of microbial infection, topical(eye drops)and oral medications are not enough, the right injections must as well, be given due to the severe nature of the Ophthalmic(eye) involvement.

For Herpes Zoster Virus(HZV), which most often do come back to life on the reactivation of latent Human Herpes virus especially type 3(HHV-3).

Treatment must commence immediately, in order to minimise the chances of the effects of the virus spreading the more.

Avoid self medication and see your Doctor immediately. Early right diagnosis save you money, time, stress and most importantly your life.

Do you know that Ulcers also happen in the eye?

What is an Ulcer?

An ulcer most often, is a painful open sore that develops on the skin, mouth, stomach and even the eyes of an individual.

But different organs or tissues of the body do require specialized tests that do help to confirm the presence of ulcer in/on that part of the body.

While most often, a Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori) tests are used to elicit ulceration of the inner linings of the stomach in stomach ulcers and gastritis, the eye as an organ of sight, have a specialised test, that is used to know whether there is an open sore on one of its tissues(cornea), even when the soreness is not visible to the naked eye.

The image below(with a green arrow pointing towards a green portion of the eye), is a typical example of a type of an abrasion of the eye called Corneal abrasion and if left infected and not properly treated can cause corneal ulcer.

It was gotten after our team here at DCL Eye Clinic, expertly stained the eyes of one of our patient, with a special type of dye used in the eye called a Flourescein dye.

Most often, the symptoms presented by any patient, determines the type of eye tests to be recommended for that patient.

Remember do not confuse Ulcer with Cancer.

While Ulcer is a painful open sore, Cancer is an uncontrollable growth and spreading of abnormal cells in the body.
