One time, we had a patient visit our facility, complaining about how she had spent so much money treating herself with no improvement.
So, I asked her a simple question:“What exactly have you been treating?”
She said she had been treating an infection.
Then I asked another simple question:“What test did you run to confirm the infection?”
Her response?She didn’t run any test.
She only suspected it was an infection because of a whitish discharge, so she went ahead to buy drugs herself.
When things became worse, she contacted a nurse who gave her injections. Yet, there was still no improvement. Eventually, the nurse advised her to go for proper tests.
Sadly, this is not the first time we’ve seen cases like this. A lot of people walk into our facility with the same story, after spending money, time, and energy on treatments that were never properly guided by diagnosis.
And my question is this:Why go through the longer route when you can follow the right route from the beginning?
Always run tests before treatment. That is the standard.
