MISCARRIAGES AND RHESUS FACTOR

IF YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE AN ABORTION OR A MISCARRIAGE IN YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY, KINDLY FIND OUT ABOUT YOUR RHESUS FACTOR: A LEADING CAUSE OF MISCARRIAGES.

👉 Knowing if your Rhesus Factor is Negative or Positive is important because if it turns out to be NEGATIVE there is a possibilty of your SUBSEQUENT or NEXT pregnancies to be ending in MISCARRIAGES.

👉 Rhesus Factor is an antigen that exists on the surface of red blood cells in most people (about 85% of humans).

👉 It is also referred to as Rh Factor.

👉 People who have the Rh have “positive” (+) blood types, such as A+, O+ or B+ are said to be rhesus Factor positive, while those who have the Rh “negative” (-) blood types, such as A–, O– or AB– are said to be rhesus factor negative .

👉 The “+” and “-” in front of the blood group is the Rhesus factor.

👉 Generally, we have A+, A–, B+, B–, AB+, AB–, O+ and O–.

👉 Rhesus factor is genetic in nature. It is inherited from the parents, mostly the father.

🤔How does Rhesus Factor cause miscarriage?🤔

👉 If a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with Rh–, there wouldn’t be any problem.

👉 However, if a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with Rh+, there would be a problem if the baby inherits Rh+ from the father .

👉 We have here what is medically called Rhesus Factor Incompatibility.

👉 The baby would obviously be Rh+.

👉 During child birth, once the baby’s Rh+ comes in contact with the woman Rh- during delivery, the antibodies are immediately activated by the mother's immune system.

👉 The activated antibodies would see the new Rh+ as foreign body or a threat and consequently they would be at alert to attack and get rid of the foreign body.

👉 Unfortunately as such, after this particular child birth, the woman would keep having miscarriages because the activated antibodies would see subsequent Rh+ pregnancies as foreign bodies and would keep fighting and taking them off.

👉 Women with Rh activated antibodies are said to be Rh sensitized and once these antibodies are activated , they can never be deactivated until the woman dies.

👉 Rh induced antibodies are activated in a Rh- woman by child birth, abortion, miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy.

👉 If a Rh– woman commits an abortion for a Rh+ man and the antibodies are activated in her system, the woman might end up childless throughout her life except if she later marries another man with with the same Rh–.

👉 The possibility of a Rh– woman finding a Rh– man is slim as about 85% of human beings are Rh+.

👉 This is a warning to our young girls who commits abortions all in the name of boyfriend-girlfriend relationships.

👉 If you’re a woman with Rh– and your fiance is Rh+, and you haven’t committed abortion for him and you don’t want to leave him, then, you need to take note of the following:

👉 In order to prevent the activation of the antibodies, doctors would give women in this category an injection called Rhogam during and after pregnancy to prevent spontaneous abortion due to Rhesus factor incompatibility.

👉 The injection is normally administered 28 weeks into pregnancy, 72 hours after delivery, after ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage or abortion.

👉 If the injection is not administered and the antibodies are activated, they would never be deactivated again!

QUICK INFORMATION

👉 In many African cultures up till today, women who are so unfortunate to find themselves having serial spontaneous abortions due to Rhesus factor incompatibility are considered witches by some of their people.

👉 Some of the women would accuse their in-laws of being behind their predicament.

👉 So, if you’re a woman with Rh– , you need to be very careful. It might be difficult for you to get a husband with a Rh– because about 85% of human beings are Rh+.

👉 So, in order not to find yourself in the aforementioned problem, put all that have been said at the back of your mind and go for genetic counselling.

👉 If you have a daughter or a sister with Rh–, counsel them on Rhesus Factor Incompatibility and the dangers lying therein.

👉 It should also be noted that a Rh– person (man or woman) cannot receive blood donation from a Rh+ person even if they have the same blood group.

👉 The consequence of such blood transfusion is fatal.

👉 It would lead to death as the blood would clot.

👉 This is due to the incompatibility in their Rhesus factor.

Thanks

Let's talk about S***M

Some things may damage s***m, such as alcohol, certain medicines and toxic chemicals. To protect fertility:

Don't smoke. People who smoke ci******es are more likely to have low s***m counts. If you smoke, ask your healthcare professional to help you quit.

Limit alcohol. Heavy drinking can lead to lower s***m counts. And it can cause a drop in the hormone testosterone. Drinking a lot also can make it difficult to get and keep an er****on. If you choose to drink, do so in moderation. For healthy adults, that means up to one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men.

Don't use lubricants. Some lubricants might interfere with s***m movement. When you're trying to start a pregnancy, it's best not to use a lubricant for s*x. Or, if you need lubricant, consider options such as vegetable oil, mineral oil, canola oil or mustard oil. You also could try a lubricant designed for people trying to get pregnant (BabyDance, Conceive Plus, Pre-Seed, others).

Understand the effect of medicines. Certain medicines may lessen fertility. Examples include some medicines used to control blood pressure, some antidepressants, antiandrogens, opioids and anabolic steroids. Many kinds of illegal drugs also have an impact on fertility. If you're trying to start a pregnancy and you take medicines, ask your healthcare professional if any of them could affect your fertility

Watch out for toxins. Being around pesticides, lead and other toxins can affect s***m quantity and quality. If you must work with toxins, do so safely. Wear protective clothing, use protective equipment, such as safety goggles, and avoid skin contact with chemicals.

Stay cool. Some research suggests that if the sc***um gets too warm, it could lower the body's ability to make s***m effectively. Wearing loose-fitting underwear, sitting less, and not using saunas and hot tubs may improve s***m quality.
Chemotherapy and radiation therapy for cancer can disrupt the body's ability to make s***m and could cause lasting infertility. If you need cancer treatment, you may want to talk with your healthcare professional about storing s***m before treatment.

When is it time to get help?

Following a healthy lifestyle that fosters s***m health and fertility can improve the chances of achieving pregnancy. But if a pregnancy hasn't happened after a year of having s*x without birth control, you may want to be checked for infertility. A fertility specialist may be able to identify the cause of the problem and provide helpful treatment.

We have 3 types of pregnancy
👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
THE 3 TYPES OF PREGNANCY

1. Cryptic pregnancy
2. Ectopic pregnancy
3. Normal pregnancy

A cryptic pregnancy is also called stealth pregnancy. Is a pregnancy that testing methods may fail to detect, both urine and blood test will give a negative result. even ultrasound can not be detected. They are uncommon and most women are unaware that they are pregnant.
Until when a woman have cramps and feel like pushing something out, that is when she noticed that she is in labor and delivery the baby

SYMPTOMS OF CRYPTIC PREGNANCY
●Period like bleeding that resembles a regular menstrual cycle
●Nausea and vomiting that is mistaken for another condition
● Fetal movement in the uterus mistaken for gas or indigestion

2. ECTOPIC PREGNANCY
Ectopic pregnancy is one that is fertilised egg out side of the uterus. If left to grow, it may damage nearby organs and cause life threatening loss of blood. It can not be survive for a 3 months and it can not move to the uterus to grow and most never survive until birth.

SYMPTOMS OF ECTOPIC PREGNANCY
● Vaginal bleeding
●Pain in the pelvic
●Abdomen pain
●Shoulder and neck pain
●Weak of the body
●Serious backache

3. NORMAL PREGNANCY:
The normal pregnancy is that unborn baby spends around 38 weeks in the uterus, but the average length of pregnancy, or gestation, is counted at 40 weeks. Pregnancy is counted from the first day of the woman's last period, not the date of conception.

SYMPTOMS OF NORMAL PREGNANCY:
●A missed period
●Light bleeding spotting
●Low abdominal cramps
●Nausea with or without vomiting
●Dizziness
●Breast tenderness
●Urinating alot
●Mood swings

What is infertility?
Infertility is a condition of your reproductive system that causes women to be unable to get pregnant (conceive). Infertility can affect anyone and has many causes. Getting pregnant involves several steps

Your brain must produce reproductive hormones that control ovarian function.
An egg must mature in your o***y.
Your o***y must release an egg (ovulation).
Your fallopian tube must pick up the egg.
S***m must travel up your va**na and through the uterus to your fallopian tube.
The s***m fertilizes the egg to create an embryo.
The embryo travels through your fallopian tube to the uterus where it implants.
A pregnancy can’t occur if anything in this process doesn’t happen.

If you’re younger than 35, your healthcare provider may diagnose infertility after one year (12 months) of trying to conceive. Trying to conceive is defined as having regular, unprotected s*x. If you’re 35 or older, your provider may diagnose infertility after six months of regular, unprotected s*x.

Infertility is more common than you might think. Fortunately, there are many treatment options available for women who wish to begin or expand their family.

What are the types of infertility?
Types of infertility include:

Primary infertility: You’ve never been pregnant and can’t conceive after one year (or six months if you’re 35 or older) of regular, unprotected s*xual in*******se.

Secondary infertility: You can’t get pregnant again after having at least one successful pregnancy.
Unexplained infertility: Fertility testing hasn’t found a reason that a woman or couple is unable to get pregnant.

How common is infertility?
Infertility affects both men and and women. Infertility is very common. In the United States, 1 in 5 women between 15 and 49 years old struggle with primary infertility and about 1 in 20 women struggle with secondary infertility. Approximately 48 million couples live with infertility around the world.

Symptoms and Causes
What are signs of infertility?
The main sign of infertility is being unable to get pregnant after six months or one year of regular, unprotected s*x. You may not have any other symptoms. But some women or men may show physical symptoms such as:

Pelvic or abdominal pain.
Irregular va**nal bleeding, irregular periods or no periods.
Pe**le disorders or issues with ej*******on.
What causes infertility?
There are many causes of infertility, and sometimes, there isn’t a simple answer as to why you’re not getting pregnant. Only a healthcare provider can determine the cause and find the best treatment for you.

While causes of infertility vary, studies show that:

33% of infertility involves women.
33% of infertility involves men.
33% of infertility involves both partners or is unexplained.
Twenty-five percent of infertile couples have more than one factor that contributes to their infertility.

Infertility causes
Some causes of infertility affect just one partner, while others affect both partners. Risk factors for infertility include:

Age, particularly being in your late 30s or 40s. For men, age begins affecting fertility closer to 50.
Eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa and bulimia.
Excessive alcohol consumption.
Exposure to environmental toxins, such as chemicals, lead and pesticides.
Over-exercising.
Radiation therapy or chemotherapy.
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Smoking and using to***co products. (This behavior plays a role in about 13% to 15% of infertility cases.)
Substance abuse.
Having obesity or being underweight.
Abnormalities of the hormone-producing centers of your brain (hypothalamus or pituitary).
Chronic conditions and diseases.

What is Ectopic Pregnancy?

What is an ectopic pregnancy?
An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that happens outside of your uterus. This occurs when a fertilized egg implants in a location that can’t support its growth. An ectopic pregnancy most often happens in your fallopian tube (a structure that connects your ovaries and uterus). Ectopic pregnancies more rarely can occur in your o***y, abdominal cavity or cervix. Pregnancies can’t continue if they’re ectopic because only your uterus is meant to carry a pregnancy.

Ectopic pregnancies can become life-threatening, especially if your fallopian tube breaks (ruptures). This is a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, and it can cause severe bleeding, infection and sometimes, death. This is a medical emergency. Healthcare providers must treat ectopic pregnancies quickly.

Where does an ectopic pregnancy happen?

An ectopic pregnancy happens when a fertilized egg implants outside of your uterus. The egg is meant to travel down your fallopian tubes and embed itself into the wall of your uterus, where it can develop. In an ectopic pregnancy, the egg implants in one of the structures along the way. The most common place this can happen is inside your fallopian tubes. The majority of ectopic pregnancies happen here — about 90%.

How common are ectopic pregnancies?
Ectopic pregnancies occur in about 2% of all pregnancies.

Symptoms and Causes

A fertilized egg implanting inside the fallopian tube.
An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants outside your uterus, most commonly in your fallopian tube.
What are the symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy?
The early symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy can be very similar to typical pregnancy symptoms. However, you may experience additional symptoms during an ectopic pregnancy, including:

Vaginal bleeding.
Pain in your lower abdomen, pelvis and lower back.
Dizziness or weakness.
If your fallopian tube ruptures, the pain and bleeding could be severe enough to cause additional symptoms. These can include:

Fainting.
Low blood pressure (hypotension).
Shoulder pain.
Re**al pressure or bowel problems.

When a tube bursts, you may feel sudden, sharp lower abdominal pain. This is a medical emergency. You should contact your healthcare provider or go to the emergency room immediately.

What causes an ectopic pregnancy?

In most cases, conditions that slow down or block the movement of the egg down your fallopian tube cause ectopic pregnancy. This could happen because:

You have scar tissue, adhesions or inflammation from a prior pelvic surgery.
Your fallopian tubes have damage, such as from a s*xually transmitted infection (STI).
You were born with an irregularly-shaped fallopian tube.
You have a growth blocking your fallopian tube.

WHAT IS ECLAMPSIA

Eclampsia is a ut serious complication of preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a disorder of pregnancy in which a person who’s pregnant has high blood pressure and protein in their urine. Eclampsia is when a person with preeclampsia develops seizures (convulsions) during preSeizures are episodes of shaking, confusion and disorientation caused by abnormal brain activity.

Eclampsia typically occurs after the 20th week of pregnancy. It’s rare and affects less than 3% of people with preeclampsia. Eclampsia can cause complications during pregnancy and requires emergency medical care.

👌🏽👌🏽What is the difference between preeclampsia and eclampsia?

Eclampsia is a severe form of preeclampsia that causes seizures. It’s considered a complication of preeclampsia, but it can happen without signs of preeclampsia. These seizures can cause confusion and disorientation or put the pregnant woman in a coma. In some cases, it can lead to stroke or death. In most cases, preeclampsia is managed before it progresses to eclampsia. Your obstetrician will monitor you closely throughout your pregnancy and they may prescribe medications. With both conditions, the only cure is to deliver your baby.

👌🏽👌🏽What are risk factors for eclampsia?
The biggest risk factor for eclampsia is preeclampsia. Most people with preeclampsia don’t develop eclampsia. You may also be at higher risk for eclampsia if:

You’re pregnant with multiples.
You have an autoimmune condition.
You consume a poor diet or have obesity (a BMI greater than 30).
You have diabetes, hypertension or kidney disease.
You’re younger than 17 or older than 35.
This is your first pregnancy.
Family or personal history of preeclampsia or eclampsia.

However, you may not have any risk factors.

👌🏽👌🏽Symptoms and Causes

👌🏽👌🏽What are the warning signs of eclampsia?

Many people will have warning signs before having a seizure caused by eclampsia. Some of these signs are:

Severe headaches.
Difficulty breathing.
Nausea or vomiting.
Trouble urinating or not urinating often.
Abdominal pain (especially on the upper right side).
Blurred vision, seeing double or loss of vision.
Swelling of the hands, face or ankles.
What are the symptoms of eclampsia?
The most common symptoms of eclampsia are:

Seizures.
Severe distress or confusion.
Losing consciousness.

👌🏽👌🏽What causes eclampsia?

Eclampsia typically develops from preeclampsia. High blood pressure (from preeclampsia) puts pressure on your blood vessels. There can be swelling in your brain, which may lead to seizures.

Genetics and diet can increase your risk for eclampsia.

Possible Causes
Overview
What are Braxton Hicks contractions?
Before labor begins, you might have false labor contractions, also known as Braxton Hicks contractions. These irregular uterine contractions are perfectly normal and might begin in your second or third trimester. A contraction is when your uterus tightens and then relaxes. Contractions are your body's way of getting ready for real labor.

What do Braxton Hicks contractions feel like?
Braxton Hicks contractions are a tightening in your abdomen that comes and goes. These contractions don't get closer together, don't increase in how long they last or how often they occur and don't feel stronger over time. Braxton Hicks contractions can feel like mild menstrual cramps and be uncomfortable. They often come with a change of position and stop with rest. You can talk, walk and go about your normal activities during Braxton Hicks contractions.

Where do you feel Braxton Hicks contractions the most?
Braxton Hicks contractions feel a little like menstrual cramps. They are felt in the front of your abdomen, but not in your back or lower part of your uterus. It's uncomfortable but not painful.

What do true labor contractions feel like?
A contraction feels different for everyone and might feel different from one pregnancy to the next. Labor contractions cause discomfort or a dull ache in your back and lower abdomen, along with pressure in your pelvis. Some people might also feel pain in their sides and thighs. Some describe contractions as intense menstrual cramps. During a true labor contraction, it might be hard to talk or walk. Labor contractions get more painful and come more frequently as time passes.

Possible Causes
What causes Braxton Hicks contractions?
No one knows why some get Braxton Hicks and others don't. Your uterine muscles are getting ready for childbirth. Some healthcare providers think Braxton Hicks contractions help to soften and thin your cervix (effacement).

Some things might contribute to you getting them, like:

Being dehydrated.
Being very active.
Having to p*e.
Having s*x.
Lifting something heavy.
How can I tell if it's Braxton Hicks or real contractions?
Braxton Hicks contractions are irregular, unpredictable and never get intensely painful. They come and go at random intervals and ease up when you change positions or take a walk.

On the other hand, real labor contractions will come at more regular intervals and last closer to 60 seconds each. They will gradually feel more painful and get closer together. Nothing you do helps true contractions subside, and talking or walking becomes difficult.
