Daily Contact Lens Care Checklist
1. Clean Hands First
Always wash your hands with mild, non-oily soap and dry with a lint-free towel before touching your lenses. Germs love shortcuts.
2. Rub, Rinse, Repeat
Even if your solution says “no rub,” gently rub your lenses for 5-10 seconds and rinse with fresh contact lens solution. This removes protein buildup and bacteria. Never use tap water or saliva — they’re full of microorganisms that can cause serious eye infections.
3. Fresh Solution Only
Empty your lens case every morning. Rinse it with fresh solution, not water. Let it air dry upside down. Replace your case every 3 months — they get grimy faster than you think. And no, topping off old solution doesn’t count!
4. Stick to the Schedule
Daily lenses = wear once. Bi-weekly = 14 days. Monthly = 30 days from opening, not from first wear. Sleeping in lenses not approved for overnight use starves your cornea of oxygen. Your eyes will thank you.
5. Makeup & Lens Rule
Put lenses in before makeup. Take them out before removing makeup. Avoid lash extensions with oil-based products — they can damage lenses.
6. When in Doubt, Take Them Out
Redness, pain, light sensitivity, blurry vision, or excessive tearing? Remove your lenses immediately and call us at Vision Matrix Eyeclinic. Don’t try to “wait it out.”
Quick Don’ts That Save Your Sight
❌ Don’t swim, shower, or use a sauna with lenses in
❌ Don’t sleep in daily/bi-weekly lenses
❌ Don’t use expired solution or lenses
❌ Don’t share lenses — even with your twin
Your eyes are priceless. Treat them like it. 💙
