A diabetic foot refers to problems affecting the feet of a person with diabetes, particularly ulcers, infections, nerve damage, poor blood circulation, and tissue destruction that can occur as a result of prolonged or poorly controlled diabetes.
It is one of the most serious complications of diabetes because a small injury can progress to a severe infection, gangrene, or even amputation if treatment is delayed.

Ulcers commonly occur at areas exposed to repeated pressure, including:
• Bottom of the foot
• Ball of the foot
• Heel
• Tips of the toes
• Between the toes
• Areas over bony prominences
