….AKSHIA rounds off SIWES program for first batch.

The Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency, AKSHIA, has successfully rounded off the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme, SIWES, program for the first batch of students from the College of Health Technology, Etinan.
The students, who came in this month, were engaged across departments where they received practical training in health insurance operations, enrollees’ management, claims, facility supervision, and customer service.

Describing the partnership as "another plus to AKSHIA to be recognized by the school", the Executive Secretary, Dr Igbemi Arthur Igbemi represented by the Director of Administration, Mrs Hannah Nta thanked all staff for mentoring the students and for upholding the standards that made the Agency a preferred place for SIWES placement.

According to him, the exercise is in line with the ARISE Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, aimed at building capacity and strengthening the health insurance workforce in the state.

He announced resumption for second batch and expressed appreciation for the teamwork and unity displayed by staff of the Agency as it delivers affordable and quality healthcare to Akwa Ibom people.

One of the student, Aniekan James Nathaniel expressed appreciation on behalf of the team to the Executive Secretary, management and staff for the mentorship and support.

*AKSHIA CONDUCTS SUPERVISORY VISITS TO HEALTH FACILITIES IN UYO*

The Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency, AKSHIA, has carried out supervisory visits to Amazing Grace Hospital and Primary Health Centre, PHC Ewet Housing, as part of efforts to monitor service delivery and improve the experience of AKSHIA enrollees.

During the visit to Amazing Grace Hospital, the AKSHIA team engaged management on the delivery of services to enrollees and on establishing appropriate channels for reporting complaints.

As part of the engagement, official AKSHIA complaint stickers were placed at strategic points in the hospital to enable enrollees to report issues easily.

At PHC Ewet Housing, Dr. Enyekekere Edet facilitated a training session on the referral process. The session focused on the proper handling and coordination of referrals for AKSHIA enrollees, and provided an opportunity to clarify expectations and strengthen the facility’s capacity to manage referrals effectively.

Other members of the AKSHIA team on the visit included Miss Ekemini Udoessien and Mr. Sebastian Enoidem.

The Agency said the visits are in line with its commitment to ensuring quality healthcare delivery under the ARISE Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Pastor Umo Eno.

AKSHIA Receives Commendation for 2026 Revenue Performance. …Dr. Edikan Ekwere Presents 2027 Budget Estimate

The Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency, AKSHIA, has received commendation for its impressive revenue performance in the 2026 fiscal year.
Dr. Ekwere who made the presentation at the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning Akwa Ibom State outlined key projection to sustain and expand health insurance coverage across the State.

As part of the presentation, he took time to highlight the major activities and achievements of the agency in 2026, including enrollment drives, provider engagement, claims management, and public sensitization efforts aimed at making quality healthcare more accessible and affordable to Akwa Ibom residents.

He reaffirmed AKSHIA’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and innovation as the agency works to deepen Universal Health Coverage in the state in 2027.

Dr. Ekwere expressed appreciation to His Excellency Governor Umo Eno for the opportunity to serve. He thanked the Executive Secretary, Dr Igbemi, management, staff and stakeholders for their commitment which led to the commendable revenue record.

HEARTLAND ALLIANCE RANKS AKSHIA HIGH IN SERVICE DELIVERY, SEEKS CONTINUED PARTNERSHIP

Heartland Alliance LTD/GTE has ranked the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency, AKSHIA, high amongst State health insurance agencies in Nigeria in service delivery.
Dr. Bartholomew Ochonye, Chief Executive Officer of Heartland Alliance, said this during a courtesy visit to the Agency today in Uyo.

Dr. Ochonye said the ranking was in recognition of AKSHIA’s leadership, commitment and collaboration in the successful implementation of the Community HIV/AIDS Services Action and Response, CARE-1 Project, funded by the US Government.
According to him, the CARE-1 Project has made significant contributions to expanding access to HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care services while strengthening institutional and community systems across the state. These achievements were made possible through AKSHIA’s support,” he stated.

The Heartland Alliance CEO added that as the project winds down, the organization is seeking continuous partnership with AKSHIA to sustain the gains recorded and integrate HIV services into the state health insurance system.

In their separate responses the Chairman of AKSHIA board, Dr. Edikan Ekwere, thanked Heartland Alliance for the visit and commendation. He assured that the Agency remains committed to sustaining partnerships that will expand health insurance coverage and improve healthcare delivery in line with the ARISE Agenda of Governor Pastor Umo Eno.
Also, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Arthur Igbemi, reaffirmed the Agency’s readiness to integrate donor-funded health interventions into the state insurance system to ensure continuity of services for vulnerable populations.

The visit was attended by management of AKSHIA and officials of Heartland Alliance LTD/GTE.
