Super glad about the turnout of Career Talks despite the great weather 🙂 We had plenty of insights, inspiration and networking.

Food for thought:
Tech is too important to leave it to the nerds. The world needs people with diverse sets of skills: coders with political sensitivity, engineers with an eye for aesthetics, etc.

Only one day left until Career Talks!

Hope you have been enjoying the last days of sun; we surely did :)

We have kept him in the secret for a bit, but now we want to finally share who is going to be our keynote speaker: Mats Siffels is the lead of B. Startup School Amsterdam, a platform that helps to close the skillgap between talent & jobs, by teaching students the most in-demand tech skills.

He's a very happy person, even though he can hardly write a line of code himself. He will kick off with interesting insights on the changing job market and what are the skills companies are looking for.

Finally, our last panel speaker is Chris Dawe, CEO of Effect.AI. Probably in the last months you have been hearing the buzz words 'blockchain' and 'AI'. Well, Chris is the 'go to' person in these fields, since he saw the potential of these technologies early on and through his experience as a serial entrepreneur developed a project that hopefully will change the world.

Less than a week left until our first Career Talks event!! which means it's time to properly introduce our speakers ;)

James Lesner has quite an interesting story and a path switch. After studying Graphic Design at the University of Leeds he switched to recruitment, helping online businesses like eBay and Amazon hire the right people. A few years ago he moved to Amsterdam to work in-house for TravelBird, and since 2.5 years he joined Catawiki, where he has been helping them scale their Tech team from 20 to 100+ people.

Can't wait to hear his story more in depth and also get insights into what are the skills and characteristics he's looking for when expanding the team.

The world needs more changemakers! Are you one of them?

Change Maker College is a new educational programme targeted towards those who want to make this world a better place.

What makes it unique?
- No teachers, but facilitators and coaches
- No rigid and set in stone curriculum, but a diversity of courses and the flexibility to design your own path
- No definite timeline. Every student is unique and so is their way of learning. You can learn and develop at your own pace.

On May 2nd will take place the trial day for the intake in the form of a bootcamp.

A few weeks ago, a very good friend of ours, Charlotte Rubesa started an awesome project!

In this six-part series of articles entitled 'A Handbook for the Next Generation of Ambitious Female Leaders', she shares the advice from 18 great women on how to make the transition from uni to work.

This particular piece on the '(Un)Importance of Early Career Choices' inspired us so much, that we thought we should definitely share these tips with you.

Being an almost graduate student can be quite overwhelming: what next? where should I start my career? do I have what it takes?... all these questions put a lot of pressure.

The thing is however, we can never know...unless we start somewhere. 'You are what you make of yourself!' so go ahead and follow your curiosity, decide for yourself what you like and make that a thing.

Well it has been a while since we last interacted with our community. Our bad 😔…there have been some crazy past months, with ups and downs (who doesn’t have these, right?), but now we are back in the game and super excited to share some updates and pick up where we last stopped.

To start with, we pivoted. We took a little bit of a different direction with our company: we still want to make a positive impact within education ❤️, but we also know that every big dream 🚀 starts with a tiny step.

So what we are focusing on right now is building a guest lecture platform bringing professionals in the classroom to inspire and share real life experiences of everything we learn in school 💪.

For the last months we have been speaking with lecturers and professionals to understand what they think of the gap between uni and the job market and we got some pretty good insights, but then, we realised: We forgot to ask the most important people, THE STUDENTS, what is their opinion on this 😱… I know, pretty dumb of us 🙄

So, our 2 questions to all the students, are:
