Naming your brand is the fun part — until you find out the name is already taken.

A lot of makers build their whole shop around a name, only to hit a wall when it's time to go legal. A little prep saves you a painful rebrand later.

Here's the short version for EU & Benelux makers:
→ Pick a name that's specific and easy to spell
→ Check the .nl and your are free
→ Search EUIPO's TMview + the BOIP register before you commit
→ Know your class — candles in 4, soaps & cosmetics in 3
→ Benelux (from €244) if you sell local, EU (from €850) if you ship across Europe

Use ™ while it's pending, switch to ® once it's official. And ignore the fake "registry" invoices that show up after — only euipo.europa.eu and boip.int are real.

Save this for launch day, and send it to a maker friend who's still deciding on a name. 🤍

Your candle is an open fire. Test it like one. 🔥

Most candle "fails" aren't bad luck. They're untested combinations. A wick that burns beautifully in plain wax can drown the moment you add fragrance oil, and you'd never know until it's in someone's home.

Here's the short version of a proper burn test:
Start with a fully cured candle, soy needs one to two weeks. Trim the wick to 5mm. Burn it in four-hour sessions and actually watch it: the flame should stay calm, the melt pool should reach the glass edge by hour four, and the glass should never get too hot to touch.

Then read the signs. Soot on the glass means incomplete combustion. Wax clinging to the sides is tunneling, a wick too weak. A huge smoking flame with scorching glass is over-wicking, far more dangerous because the glass can crack.

And write it all down. Recipe, batch numbers, glass temp, flame notes. That logbook is what proves you made something safe.

Test small, test thoroughly, build a brand people trust. 🕯️

Save this for your next pour and share it with a maker who's about to sell their first batch. Everything you need to start is at youwish.nl

Your soap didn't turn out? It's usually one of these three. 🧼

If your batter seized up into a thick clump the second you added scent, you likely used a fast-accelerating fragrance or essential oil — some just speed up trace dramatically. Knowing how your oil behaves before you pour saves the whole batch.

Worked too cool? That stiffening you saw might be a false trace — not real trace at all, just your hard butters and oils starting to solidify. Warm things back up gently and it smooths right out.

Worked too hot? Soap making is exothermic, and that extra heat can send your batter volcano-ing out of the mold. 🌋

Cold process is finicky by nature. Once you read the signs, every batch gets easier.

Our fragrance oils are blended to behave predictably in cold process, so scent day feels a lot less like a gamble.

Save this for your next pour, and share it with the maker friend who's had a batch seize on them. 💛

The earthbound story of 2026 is here — and we translated it for makers.

Three fragrances are anchoring this year's warm, woody, grounding direction: Maison Margiela's Ideal One, Amouage's Opus XVI Timber, and Rare Beauty's Rare. Resinous, sun-warmed, deeply grounding — that whole world.

🪵 Sandalwood Haze is warm woods at dusk. Lemon, bergamot, and orange up top, cypress, lavender, and violet leaf at the heart, settling into benzoin, sandalwood, tonka, amber, and vanilla. Pour it into a candle and your room feels effortlessly grounded.

🌫️ Sweet Myrrh is the deeper half — a resinous oriental steeped in quiet mystery. Opoponax and sweet myrrh resin opening into violet and labdanum, anchored by sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, and incense.

Layer them together for a scent that moves from warm light to deep resin.

This is Earth Force — the final chapter of our Spring/Summer 2026 collection. Five scent stories, five moods of the season, now all yours to create with.

mlue. 💙 the only acceptable answer.

Ask anyone around here to name a color that starts with M, and this is what you'll get — because the whole Lucent Waters collection lives in that one shade. The blue of sky and sea just before sunrise, when everything feels clear and new.

Salted Lotus opens with cool sea spray and soft lotus, settling into a warm woody-amber base. Glowing Waves starts with a sparkling burst of lemon and sea minerals, then melts into creamy coconut and driftwood.

Two fragrance oils, one feeling: calm, luminous, a fresh start you can pour.

Save this for your next batch, and share it with the maker friend who'd get the joke. 💙

The green story of 2026 is here — and we translated it for makers.

Three fragrances are anchoring this year's grounded, nature-rich direction: Bvlgari's Eau Parfumée Thé Vert, Carthusia's Intenso di Basilico, and Raconteur's Daintree Rain Tea. Fresh, herbaceous, deeply calming — that whole world.

🌿 Sage and Green Tea is a deep breath in a quiet forest. Bergamot, iced lemon, green tea, and eucalyptus up top, geranium, basil, and sage at the heart, grounded by amberwood, moss, and vetiver. Pour it into a candle and your room feels like morning air after rain.

🍃 Green Forest Flowers is the deeper half — a green floral that settles a room into stillness. Orange, bergamot, and green tea opening into jasmine, cypress, and marine notes, anchored by tonka, sandalwood, moss, and amber.

Layer them together for a scent that moves from fresh clarity to grounded calm.
This is part four of our Spring/Summer 2026 collection — one final scent story still on the way.

Fragrance oils are the difference between a product people sniff once and a product they remember. 🤍

Here's what trips most makers up: fragrance oils aren't essential oils. They're engineered for consistency, so the scent you blend today is the scent you get every single pour — no fading, no batch-to-batch surprises.

The rest comes down to using them right:

→ Skincare lives between 0.5% and 3%. More isn't stronger, it's irritation.
→ Candles need an oil that binds with wax hot and cold, so it throws scent lit and unlit.
→ Soap is a harsh environment — dose slightly stronger, because water steals the throw.
→ Stuck on a combo? Lavender + vanilla, coffee + caramel, green tea + citrus, cinnamon + orange. All proven.

Master these and your scent stops being an afterthought — it becomes the personality of everything you make.

The sweet story of 2026 is here — and we translated it for makers!

Three fragrances are anchoring this year's playful, candy-sweet direction: Versace's Dylan Blush Pink, Creed's Fragaria, and Paris Corner's Marshmallow Blush. Sugary, soft, irresistibly fun — that whole world.

🍓 Sweet Rose is a rose dipped in candy. Berries, lychee, and pink pepper opening into rose and white florals, settling on musk, amber, marshmallow, and vanilla. Pour it into a candle and your room feels like a soft pink daydream.

🌸 Fresh Roseberry is the brighter half — fruity, fresh, and joyful. Strawberry, raspberry, and pink pepper up top, orange blossom, jasmine, and rose at the heart, grounded by vanilla and sugar.
Layer them together for a scent that moves from sweet romance to bright summer fun.

This is part three of our Spring/Summer 2026 collection — two more scent stories still on the way.
