Hi Leaders. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you lost a single canoe from a trailer doing 80kmh. It could kill someone! You have a safety chain on the trailer. How about a simple safety rope on all the canoes. We saw this great method of securing canoes from a commercial operator the other weekend. Look at the orange rope. Easy and quick and cheap.

Build vital search and rescue skills with this immersive weekend training course — perfect for Venturers, Rovers, Leaders and adventurous Scouts looking to learn real-world techniques for finding and rescuing missing parties in the bush!

Roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with a variety of Search and Rescue exercises. This course covers practical field skills including:
• Conducting simulated search missions for lost parties
• Participating in mock rescue operations with debriefs and incident reporting
• Building makeshift stretchers and shelters
• Carrying stretchers over varied terrain
• Learning improvised evacuation equipment techniques when nothing standard is available

This event is a guided overnight paddle from Grays Point to Bonnie Vale Campground — a great opportunity to progress your Adventurous Activity Skills (OAS) in both paddling and camping.
