A special little piece of Neuro Connection history has found its way back to us. 📚

Many years ago, Wolfgang Haufe attended rehabilitation at our centre following his stroke. He later went on to write a book — and although Wolfgang has since passed away, some kind people in his circle remembered his connection with us and have generously passed on a stack of his books.

We now have copies available at the centre. If you would like one, please ask a team member and we’ll happily pass one on. 💙

Every 55 minutes, someone in NZ experiences a stroke. Behind those numbers are real people navigating recovery, rebuilding confidence, and adjusting to life in a completely new way.

We provide affordable physical rehabilitation in a warm, supportive environment where people can continue working on their strength, mobility, and connection long after hospital-based rehab ends. 💙

Recovery doesn’t stop after the first few months — and nobody should face that journey alone.

Last week we were grateful to be part of a community awareness and networking event hosted by Waitakere Health Link Inc at Waitākere Hospital 💙

These opportunities are so valuable for small community organisations like ours — helping raise awareness of the services we provide, connect with others working in the health and disability sector, and reach people in the community who may benefit from our support.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, asked questions, or took away information about us.

We always appreciate the chance to connect, collaborate and strengthen community networks together 🤝 💛

We were honoured to welcome Sir Wayne Smith, All Blacks legend and Ambassador for the NZ Foundation for Conductive Education, along with Rebecca from NZFCE, to Neuro Connection last week 💙

It was so special to spend time together, sharing the work we do and introducing Wayne to some of our wonderful Client Council members. There were some great conversations, plenty of stories, and a real sense of connection around the impact Conductive Education continues to have in people’s lives.

We’re always so proud to showcase our community and the journeys of the people we support — thank you both for taking the time to visit us, it truly meant a lot 💫

Today we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating a very special milestone — Brian’s 90th birthday! 🎂🎉

Brian has been part of the Neuro Connection whānau since February 2022, and what a joy he is to have around. We love listening to his stories of past adventures, the cheeky banter he shares with Inna, and the quiet determination he shows every day — still tinkering away building models with one working hand.

Alongside him is his lovely partner Susan, often deep in a jigsaw puzzle — the two of them a wonderful pair in our space.

In true Brian style, he even found his own way to tackle the birthday candles — calmly putting them out with his fingers instead of blowing them out — just another little moment that sums up his practical, no-fuss approach to life.

When asked the secret to his longevity, Brian kept us guessing… though we suspect a Guinness or two might play a part! 😉🍺

Happy 90th Brian — you are truly inspiring and we’re so lucky to have you as part of our community 💙
