Chiropractic care for babies - why we feel it is the best start in life!
Babies go through an incredible amount of change in their first year, from birth and feeding to learning to roll, crawl, sit and eventually walk.
Gentle, specialised chiropractic care supports your baby’s developing musculoskeletal and nervous systems, with care tailored specifically to their age, size and stage of development.
Parents may seek an assessment when they notice things such as:
* A preference for turning the head to one side
* Head shape changes
* Reflux, colic or trouble with wind or gas
* Difficulty or asymmetry with movement
* Feeding or latching challenges
* Tension or discomfort after birth
* A stressful birth or pregnancy
* A baby who seems unsettled with certain positions
* Concerns about development
* Or simply wanting an assessment and check by a trained health practitioner
What does chiropractic care look like for a baby?
It is very different from adult chiropractic care.
A paediatric chiropractor uses gentle, age-appropriate techniques and first takes the time to understand your baby’s birth history, development, movement and any concerns you have as a parent.
The goal isn't to force anything. Baby care is always extremely gentle, specific and appropriate for the developing body. And sometimes the most appropriate recommendation is no chiropractic care at all, or referral to another health professional.
Your baby's development matters. Early assessment can help identify movement or musculoskeletal concerns and ensure you know what support is available.
At The Chiro Lab, Dr Shelley has a special interest in paediatric chiropractic care and supporting families through every stage of development.
