✨ I don’t often post about local politics here, but when someone genuinely shows up for our community, it deserves to be shared. Councillor for Papanui Victoria Henstock is one of those rare people who never stops. She’s a relentless advocate for Papanui, always out there listening, backing us, and fighting for what locals actually need.

This election, we have the chance to back her again as our councillor and I absolutely will be.

I’m also stepping forward to stand for the Papanui Community Board as a proud independent, just like Victoria. Ashleigh Feary - Candidate for Papanui Community Board and we are here to serve our community, not party agendas. Real voices for real people.

I’ve been lucky to be part of some epic days - meeting your whānau, sharing laughs and legendary yarns. Those moments have inspired me to step up and run for a seat on the Papanui Community Board. I'm putting my hand up for the Papanui Community Board this election - and I’d really appreciate your support!

I’m a local mum of three, a local business owner, and a proud Papanui resident. Life is busy, real, and full of the same challenges many families face - managing a household, running a business, and juggling everything in between.

I may be new to politics, but I’m no stranger to tough conversations, competing priorities, or negotiating through the chaos (trust me - I’ve got three kids, and I run a business!). I bring a fresh, common-sense perspective, and understand how important it is for Council decisions to truly reflect the needs of everyday families.

I’m standing as an independent because our community deserves:
• A strong, local voice — not party politics
• Smart spending, not more waste
• Safe streets and reliable infrastructure
• Planning that protects our neighbourhoods

I grew up on a sheep and beef farm where I learned the value of grit, honesty, and showing up for others. Those values still guide me today - in my family, in my work, and in how I contribute to our community.

Whether I’m cheering on the sidelines or speaking up at the board table, I lead with empathy, straight talk, and a commitment to getting things done.
