Never seen footage, what a planned natural homebirth looks like.
We planned, we soaked in all that love of possiblities around us,
I listened within, and hibernatied, what didn't feel right, I didn't stay, my energy and my mindset was far more important for what journey I was on.
I was determined to have a planned homebirth, natural, raw, messy, at my own pace (as such) but mostly, around my own loves, the day of my son's birth....
I actually had a newborn portrait and 3D life casting session, the day before a regular messaged and asked if I was up to it, and new I was due, but I was like HELL YES, but tomorrow or Friday coz I'm just tomorrow or something like that. Little did I know that night I'd be screaming in my toilet, calling my mum and Midwive to get over here asap.
Lucky we planned a home birth, because I wasn't going anywhere far from that loo, lucky for me, husband had put the birthing pool up in baby's room and had cleaned up the spa filled it up, (our plan his plan was to keep refilling the spa not use the spa and transfer the water to the birthing pool, which btw totally worked, Just in time as I dove into the pool, midwives crying out not to run from my bathroom to the lounge
instant relief
that chlorine smell, the fire roaring, my mum there with the midwives and Anton pouring in more water to get it to the right hieght.
Over the years I've been blessed to capture homebirths and hosptial births, baby fresh 48 hours portraits too, I've seen it all, and with great pleasure had my own midwive there who I worked alongside twice, feeling safe, scared and completely over it, I remember saying I can't do this, and don't touch me...
If you've been at a birth or the one in the birthing moment, you know.
Some supportive words later and my sweet baby was here, 1 hour and 58 minutes later.
Well as much as we planned for our home birth, we didn't really plan to be on time for our birth due date at 11.59pm our son was born, healthy, crying and eagar to feed. New mum, new feels, my husband reminds me is that my baby, was my first words,
Allowing our plecenta to be attached during his bonding with us and having his checks to ensure he was indeed a healthy well sounded and rounded beautiful baby boy.
For us to make this happen, a lot of inner work was done, a lot of wording on how we spoke to friends and family and even strangers, it was a time of wearing face masks, and honestly heavliy pregnant wearing a face mask did not seem healthy nor was it, but my son and I, we were healthy and thanks to my husband for being strong to be able to support us through our planned beautiful raw and messy home birth, the best start we could ever give our wee man and how lucky we could have this opportinutity. Some are unaware you can have a home birth, some don't even releaise you can plan for this, or that there are midwives speclisied.
Beyond grateful, because in my business at Time2Shine Photography, I listen and over the year I took note, and because of my clients, and those that walk the path less travelled, it's not wrong or right where you give birth, it's how you show up, and I had my hostpital just in case bag, and if it was the case, I had my little go to items to bring me back to where I wanted to be, and that was being right where I needed to be, mind body and soul.
I'm holding our 2 day in person immersion THIS MONTH and the steps I took, will be here. You can create your best life, you just have to align with it, take the actions and clear out what's holding you back, which is normally.... YOU.
