⚠️ Breast milk donors needed ⚠️
❗ Christchurch Hospital Human Milk Bank is still in need of donations.
Breast milk is particularly important for babies who have been born prematurely or any ill baby admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). When a parent’s own milk is not available, the milk bank offers support by providing screened and pasteurised donor milk. Donated breast milk is a precious resource that is gifted by healthy breastfeeding parents who have breast milk surplus to their needs.
🙏 We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who became a donor after our last appeal. Your generosity truly means a lot and makes a significant difference in the lives of our most vulnerable babies.
👶 If you are a breastfeeding mother in Canterbury with plenty of milk to spare or if you know someone who might be able to donate and help our most vulnerable and unwell little babies, please contact:

New research is here to help us understand how fl**ge size matters when pumping.

Alongside not having the suction up too high and hurting your ni***es, using a fl**ge size that more closely fits your ni**le size helps improve comfort levels and milk production and removal.

Now the tricky thing will be to get pump manufacturers to provide more sizing options and not just a standard 24mm, which is way bigger than many ni***es, which average 16mm in diameter. So, if you have any other smaller option with your pump, try using that and see if that makes a difference for you.

This sizing information relates to pump fl**ges and not so much to ni**le shield sizing (which is best discussed individually).

Background: Pumping is a common practice in the United States, but it can be uncomfortable and lead to concerns about milk supply. The fit of the fl**ge, or bre...
