💙 What are you training for?
I recently met with some teachers at Te Mata primary for a talk about all things health and strength.
I asked them what they were training for and if they had any goals for their future…
Not one answer was,
“I want to lose 10kg”
“I want my family and friends to think I have a great body”
“I want to be smaller”
“I want to fit into a smaller dress”
Their answers were,
“I want to keep up with my grandkids, pick them up, get down on the floor with them (and get back up)”
“I want to complete a triathlon”
“I want to be able to live independently”
That last one was a big one for me.
Because we don’t do exercises at class for the sake of it.
We do movements in class that practice lifts, pulls, pushing, hinging etc. This is so you can keep doing the things you love for longer - forever 💜
We are saturated on social media about challenges to “lose 10kg in 10 weeks” but it turns out, this is not necessarily what women want.
We want to be strong, fit, healthy and happy.
We want the ability to keep saying yes to the adventures, to keep up with our kids and grandkids, and get up out of our chair with no hands (you know what I’m talking about!).
At EMF this is exactly what we are training for, and it doesn’t have to be every day, even one class a week will make a huge difference.
Start easy, start light, but just start 💙
