🧡 GOOD IN THE HOOD – VOTE FOR EAST OTAGO RDA AT Z PALMERSTON! 🐴

We’re very excited to share that East Otago Riding for the Disabled has been selected as one of the local community groups for Z’s Good in the Hood 2026!

From 18 August to 14 September, pop into Z Palmerston and when you make a purchase in-store, you’ll receive an orange token to vote for one of four local groups. 🧡

Z Palmerston has $5,000 to give to the four selected community groups, and your votes determine how that money is shared – so every token dropped into the East Otago RDA box really does make a difference! 🐴💛

Funding like this helps us continue providing therapeutic riding opportunities in our local community and supports the ongoing care of the wonderful horses who make our programme possible.

So if you’re passing through Palmerston, call into Z, grab yourself something and please pop your orange token in the East Otago RDA box! And remember – you can vote again each time you make a purchase during the promotion. 🙌

As national volunteer week comes to an end we would like to thank all the volunteers, past and present, for all your hard Mahi (work), we couldn't do it without you. Thank you team, you know who you are 😉☺️

We are on the search for any kids riding boots you might have lying around that you would like to donate to us.

They do need to still have stitching that holds them together, no talking boots please. All sizes considered and greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately someone jumped our fence today and put a huge pile of apples in one of the horses paddocks.

That amount of apples could make a horse very very sick.

We ask that if you would ever like to donate apples to our horses please leave them at our gate and let us decide if it's safe for our horses to eat.

We also ask that you do not enter our property without permission.

🐴 Volunteers Wanted. Join the EORDA Family 🐴

We’re looking for kind, reliable people to join us at East Otago Riding for the Disabled Association on Matanaka Drive, Waikouaiti.

There are plenty of ways to get involved, with flexible roles to suit most schedules:
✨ Evening help with hay and rugs after work
✨ Paddock checking
✨ Leading our horses during sessions
✨ Committee and admin support
✨ Fundraising help

Our riding sessions run Mondays and Fridays, 9am to 1pm. Even just an hour here or there makes a real difference.

No matter how much time you can offer, we will find a place for you that fits around your life. No pressure, no experience needed. Just come along and give it a go.

All training is provided and you’ll be supported the whole way. We’re a friendly, down-to-earth group and you’ll quickly feel part of the team.

💛 Get out in the fresh air and build fitness
💛 Give back to your local community
💛 Meet great people and make new friends
💛 Spend time with our gorgeous horses

And along the way, you’ll be helping local riders build confidence, independence, and joy through horses.

Ages 14+ welcome. We will also need consent for a police check.
