A weekend on noho with these 'wa' kids.
We had the opportunity to write our karapīpiti, a journey from the heart, showing the essence of who we are and the spaces that our heart connects to. Where the pepeha can feel out of reach or create disconnection for many who do not know their whakapapa or do not come from this land, the karapīpiti shows us who we uniquely are and how we belong.
My piece so far, which talks to my connection to the ocean, the moana, and how this reminds me of all the ways all things are connected, body to body, body to earth, through wairua and whakapapa. It also talks to the healing nature of the ocean and the focus of my work, being on the power in the spaces and the ways we are connected.
