GroomerReset

GroomerReset Education for dog groomers on reducing pain, stiffness and strain at work through posture, movement breaks and practical workday habits.

**Dog groomers — watch the video to see what head-down grooming can do to your neck.**

When you spend the day looking down at dogs, clippers, scissors, paws, coats and tables… your head slowly drifts forward.

And the further forward your head moves, the harder your neck has to work.

That can show up as:

✅ neck stiffness
✅ shoulder tightness
✅ headaches
✅ upper back tension
✅ aching after long grooming days
✅ that “heavy head” feeling by the end of the day

This is why GroomerReset always starts with the **neck first** before moving on to the shoulders.

Because sometimes what feels like a shoulder problem is actually being driven by the neck.

The good news?

You don’t need a full workout.
You don’t need fancy equipment.
You don’t need to stop grooming.

You need small, targeted resets built around the way groomers actually work.

Start noticing your posture today:

📍 Is your chin poking forward?
📍 Are your shoulders creeping up?
📍 Are you reaching across the table?
📍 Do you feel worse by the last dog of the day?

Your body is part of your business.
Protect it now, so you can keep grooming longer.

**Follow GroomerReset for practical body-saving tips for dog groomers.**

Comment **NECK** if your neck or shoulders feel this after grooming.

Sore shoulders after a day of grooming?

Drying. Brushing. Holding dogs. Reaching across the table.
It all adds up.

That ache across your shoulders or upper back is something many groomers quietly push through — but it should not be ignored.

This week’s GroomerReset is a simple Wall Angels reset to help improve shoulder movement, posture awareness and upper-back control.

It is quick, practical and easy to build into your day.

Try 10 slow reps in the morning and the end of the day.
Keep your back against the wall.
Keep your wrists as close to the wall as you comfortably can.
Stop if you feel sharp pain.

Your body is part of your business.

Do you know how to set up your grooming table correctly?

Your table height can make a big difference to how your body feels
by the end of the day.

If the table is too low, you may find yourself bending forward for long periods.

If it is too high, your shoulders and arms may work harder than they need to.

Over time, small setup habits can add extra strain to your neck, shoulders, lower back, wrists, and hands.

A good grooming table setup should help you:
✅ Keep the dog close enough to avoid overreaching
✅ Work with relaxed shoulders
✅ Keep your elbows in a comfortable position
✅ Reduce bending and twisting
✅ Move around the table instead of leaning across it

Your grooming table is one of the most important tools in your salon — but it needs to be set up for your body, not just the dog.

Question for groomers:
Do you adjust your table height for each dog, or do you usually leave it in the same position all day?

Comment below if you want a printable poster to remind you how to set up right, for every dog.

Dog grooming is hard on the body, isn’t it?
Long days, heavy dogs, awkward positions… it all adds up.

If your back, wrists or shoulders are paying the price, please know it’s not just you – and it doesn’t have to be “part of the job.”

I work with dog groomers on simple ways to ease the strain, and I’ve put together some short free 3‑minute Groomer Reset videos with gentle movements you can do between dogs to release tension and feel a bit more human by the end of the day.

If you’d like a copy, just comment RESET for a body part (eg low back, wrist and hands etc). You can message me privately if you prefer.
I’ll send the video through to you (for your lower back, upper back, shoulders, neck or wrist/hand,) no strings attached.

You can love grooming and still admit it is hard on your body.

Those two things can both be true.
You can be passionate about grooming and still recognise that the job asks a lot physically.
Loving the work should not mean sacrificing your neck, shoulders, back, hands, and energy just to keep going.
At Groomer Reset, I want more groomers to know there is a better way to think about longevity in this industry.

Tag a dog groomer who needs this reminder. 💬🧡
