Consider it for a moment.

Before someone told you it was unrealistic or questioned your ability.
Before that someone or someone’s decided they knew better than you (spoiler alert 🚨: they don’t know better than you! 😉)

What did you know you were capable of?

It’s bloody easy to start second-guessing yourself when you’ve heard enough opinions from the outside.

If they’re not a someone whose opinion matters to your in your life - disregard.

✨ Te Rau Aroha Alignment✨

Holding and sharing space with the 2026 Level 1 cohort this weekend in Kaitaia.
Beautiful to be back in wananga for Te Rau Aroha Alignment with Marama & Mama.

Strengthening the connection with Kawakawa, her Mauri and guidance as the roopu deepen with her. Her way is gentle yet powerful and I feel in awe every time she reveals korero.

Grateful that Nicky N Marino Leef & I are able to share and hold space with these beautiful wahine.

Looking forward to assessments tomorrow ✨

I caught myself thinking about this one. 🤔

How often do we rush something simply because we know we can?

We get good at doing things quickly and then start treating “quick” as the goal.

Most things in world right now are faster, bigger, brighter. Get a new phone and next month the next model up is released. There’s little time and space given to taking our time… unless that is unless we grant it ourselves.

Maybe some things can just take the time they take even if you could smash it out in half the time.

People are going to have opinions.

About what you wear, what you say & that tone you use. How you show up or don’t according to them. Damn, they’ll even put 2 cents in about what you should or shouldn’t be doing with your life.

Algood, everyone’s allowed to have an opinion.

The question is whether you’re going to pick them opinions up and carry them around like they’ve been handed down from the sky above.

I reckon there are a couple of questions worth asking when someone offers their unsolicited two cents.

Is this actually someone whose opinion matters to me?

If I died tomorrow, would they even come to my tangi?

Would you want to live your life according to what they think you should be doing?

If the answer is no, then leave their opinion sitting right there where they left it.

Just because something is offered doesn’t mean we have to receive it.

Same goes for kai.

Just because it’s offered, we don’t have to take it….especially if it’s not nourishing for you.

Their feelings about your decision are not your problem.

There’s a difference between what happens inside you first and what happens next.

Something can hit a nerve and oooooooo that urge to fire back surges so fast!

This first reaction can happen instantaneously and outside of your control

What you choose to do next is where things can get interesting…

How long has it been since you deliberately did something just for you?

Not the fit it in last minute then feel guilty for the next 2 weeks ones. Intentional, on purpose, for a purpose, took the time to prioritise care for yourself.

We know very well how good we can be at telling ourselves we’ll get around to ourselves later. (Yes if you think im talking to you, I am!)

Later can turn into months, s**t even years 😱

It usually takes something like a day away, a massage, a date, a walk, a wānanga, or simply having time where nobody needs anything from you to realise how long it’s been.

Five months is a bloody long time to go without something that fills you back up.

Care for yourself needs to happen somewhere in the middle of life, not once everything else has been taken care of.

Prioritise YoSelf 🙌🏼

Monday mornings can be interesting. The day hasn’t really started but somehow our minds are already be halfway through it and bracing for the mammoth week ahead.

I catch myself doing this when there’s a lot going on. I can start thinking about what needs to happen later, what I haven’t done yet, where I’ve dropped the ball, how I’m going to fit everything in and suddenly I’m mentally living a day/week that hasn’t even happened.

There’s nothing wrong with thinking ahead and planning. It’s when we get so far ahead and lost in it that we miss where we actually are and what’s actually going on right in front of our eyeballs.

How often does someone say something lovely to you and your immediate response is to reject it 👀

You make a joke, brush it off, tell them they’re being too kind. Then you reactively start giving reasons why what they said can’t possibly be true.

I’ve done it too, believe me! It’s a bloody hard pattern to break but it can be done.

We can be so much better at accepting criticism than we are at accepting someone seeing something good in us.

So the next time someone gives you a compliment try not to argue with it.

Simply receive it. “Thank you.” is more than enough of a reply.

I’ve never really connected with the idea of filling my cup just enough so I can keep pouring it out again.

That sounds exhausting and bit like running on a hamster wheel and getting nowhere to me 🤷🏽‍♀️

For me the aim isn’t to keep topping the cup up before it runs dry.

The goal is overflow 🙌🏼

Things that create that overflow aren’t complicated or cost 💰.

🪄Dates with my ♥️ everyday
Conversations that have nothing to do with work, bills, responsibilities, kids or what needs fixing.
🪄Time with my mokopuna.
🪄Kaupapa I choose to be involved in.
🪄Writing
🪄QT with me ♥️

The things that remind me of myself when I walk away from them.

This is where the overflow comes from.

Once there’s overflow or excess, now sharing with others feels very different.

You’re no longer giving away what you need for yourself and you’re sharing from what is already abundant.

So here’s today’s mindfulness tip:

✨Pay attention to what creates overflow in your life✨

We put a lot of emphasis on getting through hard things. “Bouncing back”

Sometimes getting yourself back to a place where you can actually function feels like a massive achievement AND it is 🙌🏼

There’s a fews questions I ask myself when I’ve come out the other side of something.

Do I recognise anything the experience taught me about myself? (or am I still a bit stuck in blame & shame 👀)

What am I going to do differently now that I know different?

Some experiences change you.

The question is whether you listen to what changed.
