Guys.
I’m 40 now… and I wanted to share with you some of the reasons why I continue to move, and prioritise it.
I love to go for walks, I love to dance, I love Pilates. I love yoga - especially hot yoga in winter ❄️ (sorry but I do - I get so cold!) I’ve done gym workouts, pole dance, hiit classes, strength training, gone running… but I do this to explore movement. To see what ever use sits with my body in the season of life I’m in. For my brain and mental health. To find a moment for me. To leave my friends podcast length voicenotes on walks… To keep mobile and supple. Damn straight I still want to be able to do the splits at 80! I mean I’m half way there 😉
I move to feel good in my body and I really try hard to make that not an aesthetic thing.
This body has allowed me to travel the world as a performer, dancing is how I met my husband, dancing is how I met some of my lifelong besties. It gave me transferable skills and confidence and a life I would never have had without it.
I want to honour that my body has had to perform at such a high standard by keeping fit, staying mobile and continuing to move.
I could quote a heap of studies which are all neatly cited in our manuals, but you know moving is good for you in so many ways as you get older so if you want specifics - message me and I’ll point you to them.
Aging is a privilege denied to many, as I age I want it to be fun and filed with the things I love and - if I’m lucky - things I’m yet to experience too.
