Why is there black pepper in our cream?

Well skin is very good at keeping things out. That's its job after all. So a cream needs a little help getting its ingredients in.

Piperine, the natural compound that gives pepper its warmth, makes skin more permeable, which helps the other ingredients absorb. Nutmeg helps in a similar way.
