Yes. A thousand times, yes.
The older I get, the less interested I am in being hard on myself — and the more interested I am in actually enjoying being in this body, in this life.
For so many years, especially as women, we run on empty and call it dedication. We pour into our families, our work, our communities — and somehow end up at the very bottom of our own priority list.
I know that place. I've lived there.
What's shifted for me is realising that coming back to yourself doesn't have to look like a retreat or a spa weekend. Sometimes the most radical self-care is the quietest kind.
Sometimes it's picking up my ukulele for ten minutes and letting the music move through me.
Sometimes it's a foot spa at the end of a long day — something warm, something slow.
Sometimes it's closing my eyes, taking a few really deep breaths, and actually feeling my feet on the ground.
Sometimes it's stepping outside and noticing — really noticing — the light on the water, the smell of the air, the way the trees move.
And sometimes it's dropping some pure essential plant magic into the diffuser, closing the door, and giving myself full permission to do nothing for a moment.
Notice what happens when you do that. Notice the exhale. The shift. The way your whole nervous system says "thank you."
That's the love affair I'm talking about.
