Congratulations to PMA Member, Dr Karaponi Okesene-Gafa, who will lead a groundbreaking Pacific-led study aimed at improving care for Pasifika women with diabetes in pregnancy.

Supported by a $1.2 million Health Research Council (HRC) grant, the 36-month project will work alongside Pasifika families to co-design culturally grounded approaches to care, ensuring Pacific voices, values and lived experiences are at the heart of improving health outcomes for mothers and their pēpē.

Steve Lasei, Health Coach at Etu Pasifika Canterbury, is no stranger to the impact of bowel cancer within his own family. He shares the significance of bowel cancer education, having open conversations about the issue and being proactive about seeking help.
