We have recently been enjoying exploring some new to us tracks in our local forest.
So grateful to have a horse who loves exploring with me.
A great way to destress and help keep the winter blues away. We are now in for a few days of very yuck weather so make sure your horses are warm and feed.
Hope you are all surviving winter well so far, we are past the shortest day so I'm looking forward to days that are warmer and lighter again.

On this day 3 of July in 2022
Warning long post but I promise it's worth the read
Well what an afternoon I've had. Certainly wasn't what I was expecting. I got to my boy and he seemed fine from the road, however driving up the driveway he started to run around, buck, rear up and roll. Anyone else would have thought he was just playing no big deal. I knew differently as he rolled four times and after each roll would get up and immediately rear and buck. My homeopath side knew it was him telling me he was uncomfortable and irritated. I drove to the barn grabbed my halter I already had remedies on me as I moved paddock yesterday and knew he might have the runs today. Quickly headed to the paddock and he was waiting for me at the gate. I gave him a dose of nux vomica straight away. He knew he needed it and took it straight from my hand ✋. Then I caught him and felt under his cover, he was soaking wet with sweat. I walked him up to the barn took his cover off and administered another dose of remedy. He then started to yawn, lick and show other signs of relief. After about 15mins I gave him another dose he became relaxed and started to doze in the sun and rest a hind leg.
Yay I had caught it early and he was going to be absolutely fine. I spent the next four and half hours with him just monitoring and watching him. He happily dozed for a good hour so I put him in the stable while I went and mucked out the paddock. I only gave him a small area like I do any time I move paddock and then I strip graze as I'm well aware of how sensitive he is to grass changes. For some reason this time it must have been a little to much for his tummy and he overindulged himself. Nux vomica is our leading remedy for overindulgence which results in abdominal discomfort. After 3 hours I felt he was fine to go back out to the paddock with just hay and his dinner no extra grass tonight Diablo. He did a stool while in the stable after I had put him in there it was like a cow paddy and smelt like rotten eggs so this indicated another remedy. I gave him just one dose of podophyllum to help slow his digestive track down and help his stool to become more soild.
I was happy with how he was after watching him in the paddock for a while. So I left him as he was relaxed and grazing normally and happily. I will be going up and checking on him first thing in the morning after my kids go to school. The bond we build with them is so special as it really is a connection beyond anything else. It helps us notice small changes and they then confide in us and tell us when something is wrong. Never underestimate your intuition no one else knows your animals more than you do.
He apparently had seemed fine all day. It was like he went my mum is here I can show her I'm uncomfortable and need her help.

I've been getting a few inquires lately about treating equine sarcoids.
This was my boys sarcoid 14 years ago and shows the progression of healing after I started the remedy. It took about 3 weeks for it to heal from the inside out and the main part to fall off. Then a month or two for it to really reduce it side and the hair to fully grow back.
The last photo I took a couple of days ago to show what little scaring is there note he is clip in the photo as it's winter compared to the others when he wasn't clipped.

I have been a bit poorly lately. The joys of winter and 🦠 viruses. I'm still not 100% but.taking indicated remedies when needed however it can be so hard to treat yourself even with all the knowledge I have. Treating yourself isn't as easy as it seems believe it or not because as a homeopath we need to step back and look at the whole picture and symptoms clearly. As you can imagine not easy when you don't feel well or have a clear mind.
