Kapiti Hot Yoga, home of the original 26+2 hot yoga series

Kapiti Hot Yoga, home of the original 26+2 hot yoga series Welcome to Kapiti Hot Yoga, we teach the original 26+2 hot yoga sequence, commonly known as Bikram Yoga. Heat + Yoga, how it works.

The sequence is made up of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises and is practiced in a heated room. When the body is warm, muscles, fascia, and connective tissue are more elastic allowing for greater flexibility and less chance of injury. Combine this with the intelligent sequence of poses that safely stretches & strengthens muscles, ligaments, and joints, and you have the perfect system of exerc

ise to bring back natural range of motion to bodies. The sequence is made up of beginner's poses and is suitable for all abilities. Our goal is to teach students to take each pose step by step. Step one, learning to engage the right muscles and align the body. Step two, learning to breathe and still the mind once in the pose. And, step three, finding your depth, both physically and mentally. Students are led through the sequence by a set of detailed instructions designed to guide them in and out of poses safely. All classes are the same; same poses, same breathing exercises, same instructions - so you know exactly what to expect.

WINTER IS COMING KAPITI...

The mornings are getting darker.
The air is getting cooler.

And it becomes a little easier to hit pause on our healthy habits, cancel that class booking you made at the start of the week and instead snuggle up with Netflix - all the while, telling ourselves we'll go tomorrow.

That's exactly why we're bringing back the Sweat for a Cause - Winter Challenge.

A winter challenge designed to help you stay consistent through the season when consistency matters most.

Starting Friday 19 June.
More details soon.

THE POWER OF A CONSISTENT SEQUENCE

One of the most powerful parts of this practice is that the sequence never changes.

Every Hot Class — whether it’s 90, 75 or 60 minutes — follows the same 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, in the same order, every time.

And that’s intentional.

In a world that constantly pushes variety, there’s something incredibly powerful about returning to the same sequence over and over again.

Because this isn’t about entertainment.
It’s about creating change.

The consistency of the sequence allows your body to slowly open, strengthen and rebalance over time.

You begin to notice the subtle shifts:
• moving more freely
• less stiffness and tension
• improved balance and posture
• better recovery
• feeling calmer and clearer mentally

The repetition also teaches focus and patience.

Instead of worrying about what’s coming next, your attention shifts inward — to your breathing, your concentration, and what your body is telling you on that particular day.

Some days the postures feel steady and strong.
Other days they feel hard.

Both are part of the practice.

The sequence is designed so that each posture prepares the body for the next, creating a therapeutic flow through the entire class.

And because the class stays the same, you get to measure real progress over time.

Not perfection.
Progress.

This is why we always say:
You don’t need to do everything perfectly.
You don’t need to keep up.
The goal is simply to stay in the room.

Over time, the sequence does its work. ✨

There’s a reason people have practiced this method for decades.
It works.

THE IMPORTANCE OF HEAT + HUMIDITY

One of the things people notice most when they walk into the room is the heat.

And yes… it’s hot. 🔥

But the heat and humidity are not there to make the class harder.
They’re there to make the practice more effective.

Our room is heated intentionally to support the body through the sequence.

The warmth helps the muscles soften and open, allowing you to move more safely and deeply into the postures over time.

Many people notice:
• less stiffness and tightness
• improved mobility and flexibility
• easier recovery from exercise and sport
• reduced aches and pains
• better circulation and energy

The heat also changes the mental side of the practice.

You can’t muscle your way through a hot class.
At some point, you have to slow down, focus on your breathing, and learn to work with your body instead of against it.

That’s where the practice becomes more than just physical.

The room teaches patience.
Focus.
Calm under pressure.

And despite what many people think before they start, you do not need to “keep up” in the heat.

You can rest whenever you need to.
Take breaks.
Sit down.
Rejoin when you’re ready.

The goal is not to push through at all costs.
The goal is simply to stay in the room and allow the sequence to do its work.

Over time, most people are surprised by how quickly their bodies adapt.

What once felt overwhelming starts to feel manageable.
Then familiar.
Then empowering.

The heat becomes part of the therapy.
Not something to fight against.

Hey Folks, just a quick heads up:

To give more of you the opportunity to attend, we’ll be postponing the Posture Workshop scheduled for this weekend and combine it with the next workshop instead.

The combined workshop will focus on the balancing and separate-leg postures, giving us more time to properly unpack and explore them together. New date coming soon.
