πŸ’Š Repeat prescriptions: what you need to know

Repeat prescriptions can make it easier to continue medicines you use regularly, but sometimes your clinician may need to review things first.

Our latest article explains why you may be asked to book an appointment, complete blood tests or have other monitoring before another prescription can be issued.

It also covers why it is a good idea to request your repeat before you run out of medication.

⏱️ Making the most of your 15-minute appointment

A standard appointment at Living Waters Medical is 15 minutes and is designed to allow time to safely assess and manage one main health concern.

Our latest article explains how to prepare for your appointment, when it may be better to book more time, and why a further consultation may sometimes be needed.

A little preparation can help you and your clinician make the best use of your appointment time.

πŸ§ͺ Had a blood test, X-ray, ultrasound or scan and wondering what happens next?

Our latest article explains what happens once your results come back, why some tests take longer than others, when you may be asked to book a follow-up appointment, and what to do if your symptoms are getting worse.

A test result is often only one part of the clinical picture, so sometimes a follow-up discussion is the safest and most appropriate next step.

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations, Dr Saima Azhar! πŸŽ‰

We are delighted to celebrate Saima, who has secured a PGY1 House Officer role at Whanganui Hospital.

Saima joined Living Waters Medical in September 2024 while working towards medical registration in New Zealand. Already qualified as a doctor with postgraduate training in gynaecology in Pakistan, she faced the significant challenge of completing the examinations required to practise medicine here.

Alongside working, raising her family and rebuilding her career in a new country, Saima successfully completed the Australian Medical Council examination and passed her clinical examination in March 2026.

During her time with Living Waters, Saima has worked as a Healthcare Assistant, remained connected to clinical practice and continued preparing for the opportunity to return to medicine. Her determination, resilience and commitment have been evident throughout her journey.

Securing a House Officer position is a major milestone and a thoroughly deserved achievement. We have been privileged to support Saima along the way and are incredibly proud to see her take this next step in her medical career.

Saima, thank you for everything you have contributed to Living Waters Medical. We will miss having you as part of our team, but we are excited to see you begin this new chapter. We wish you every success at Whanganui Hospital and look forward to seeing where your journey takes you next.

Please join us in congratulating Saima! πŸ‘πŸ©Ί

🌟 Wishing Chelsea all the very best! 🌟

Chelsea, a third-year UCOL nursing student, has spent the past five weeks completing her placement at our Castlecliff clinic.

It has been a pleasure having Chelsea as part of the team and supporting her learning in a primary care setting. During her placement, she had the opportunity to work alongside our Practice Nurse Charlotte, Nurse Prescriber Anthony and GP Dr Praveen.

Living Waters Medical regularly supports student nurses and doctors through clinical placements. This is an important part of how we help develop the future health workforce and encourage more clinicians to consider living and working in Whanganui.

Thank you for your contribution and the positive attitude you brought to the clinic, Chelsea. We wish you every success as you continue your nursing journey, and you are welcome back anytime! πŸ’™
