🤩 One Week In! 🤩

It’s officially been one week since I opened my doors full-time and expanded my availability to the Whangārei community.

A huge thank you for the support, encouragement, and trust so far — it genuinely means a lot.

This first week has been incredible. I’ve had the privilege of helping people work through a wide range of aches, pains, and movement challenges — from issues that have been building for decades to those that only just appeared the day before a session.

What I never take for granted is seeing what becomes possible when the body begins to move and respond in a different way.

A special thank you as well to everyone who has shared their experience with friends, family, and colleagues. Many of my new clients have come through word of mouth, and I deeply appreciate that level of trust and recommendation.

Looking ahead, I’ll be at the Mind Body & Spirit Expo at Forum North on 20–21 June. I was part of it last year and really enjoyed connecting with so many people over the weekend.

I’ll be back again this year offering mini ConTact Care sessions (approx. 25–30 minutes), available to book on the day.

If you’re curious about ConTact Care or simply want to find out more, feel free to come say hello. It’s always a great event with a wide range of inspiring stalls and exhibitors to explore.

I look forward to seeing you there — or hopefully before then.

This Tuesday, 2 June, marks my first official day as a full-time ConTact Care Practitioner.

For the past seven years, my focus has been split between plastering and ConTact Care. Whether it was fitting in sessions during half-days, dedicating one full day a week, or working around the demands of a busy plastering schedule, it has been an incredible journey.

One of the greatest advantages of this path has been the opportunity to work with so many tradespeople on building sites during smoko breaks and after work. The practical, hands-on experience this has provided is something few practitioners get the chance to develop, and I’m genuinely grateful for the knowledge and understanding it has given me.

Now the time has come to dedicate my full attention to ConTact Care and help as many people as possible.

Over the years, I've noticed a real shift in awareness around town. The conversation has gone from:

“What’s that?”

to

“Oh yes, that helped me!”

That growing recognition is thanks to the incredible practitioners who came before me. I was fortunate to train alongside them, learn from their experiences, and witness their passion for helping others. Their guidance has helped shape the practitioner I am today, and I’m honoured to continue building on the work they started.

If you, or someone you care about, could benefit from a ConTact Care Flinchlock Release session, I still have a few appointment spaces available this week.

WHY DOES YOUR BODY KEEP RETURNING TO THE SAME TENSION?

You stretch it.
Massage it.
Train it.

Yet your body keeps returning to the same tightness.
The same guarded posture.
The same feeling of “holding on.”

That idea became the foundation of Contact C.A.R.E. Flinchlock Release.

Not as a medical treatment or clinical system…

But as a different way of exploring protective movement patterns held within the body.

Think about how quickly the body reacts:
You brace.
Tighten.
Pull away.

These reactions are natural. But many people notice those same protective patterns lingering long after the moment has passed:

• stiff shoulders
• restricted movement
• guarded breathing
• constant tension
• feeling physically “locked”

Contact C.A.R.E. Flinchlock Release combines:

• hands-on contact work
• guided movement
• assisted stretching
• reflex-based positioning
• pressure and release techniques
• martial-arts-inspired body awareness

The goal isn’t to “fix” the body.

It’s to create an experience where people often report feeling:

• lighter
• freer
• calmer
• less guarded
• more fluid in movement

Many clients describe it as unlike anything they’ve tried before.

Not because it’s complicated…

But because the experience feels different.

Sessions are designed to help people explore tension, movement, and body awareness from a completely different perspective.

Most tension doesn’t begin with weakness.

It begins with surprise.

A sudden twist.
A fall.
A stressful moment.
An impact.
A shock.

The body reacts instantly with a protective flinch response.

www.whangareiflinchlock.co.nz

That response is intelligent.

But sometimes the body never fully lets it go.

Over time, protective tension can become:

* stiffness
* restricted movement
* guarded posture
* reduced rotation
* constant tightness

Flinchlock Release is a martial-arts-informed system designed to help restore relaxed, adaptive movement through hands-on release work and guided movement patterns.

The goal isn’t forcing the body.

The goal is helping it feel safe enough to move freely again.

Big day at the Waharoa Speedway today supporting family, one of the amazing pit crew team Erik Barton Scheepens aka “Twin” came to me with a sore elbow and unable to open his hand at all!
A quick treatment session in the car park got his hand functioning properly and elbow sorted which got him back to work helping the BSR race team in the pits.

What could you do if you weren’t in pain?

How about if you weren’t completely out of pain but just a little bit more manageable?

Are you slowly giving up those activities that you enjoy due to pain?

Maybe I can help you.
Maybe this is what you need.

Is your body on the Fritz?

What if the real cause of your pain isn’t muscle… but your structure?

I work directly with how your body has adapted to stress, impact, and tension.

This isn’t massage. It’s something different.

If your body feels “off” — this is for you.
