🌿 Motivation Monday 🌿

A new week is a new opportunity to nurture your hauora.

As you begin the week, take a moment to ask yourself:

💭 What do I need more of this week?

More rest?
More movement?
More connection?
More time for myself?

Often, the strongest thing we can do is listen to what our tinana, hinengaro, wairua, and whānau need.

Set an intention for the week ahead and take one small step towards it today.

✨ What intention are you carrying into this week?

📸 Last week, our clinic leads took the opportunity to attend a funding expo, exploring ways to secure support that will help make rongoā Māori more accessible for our community. Along the way, they captured this beautiful view - a reminder that investing in the wellbeing of our people often begins with taking the journey, seeking opportunities, and looking ahead with purpose.

🌿 Nau mai, haere mai Shane 🌿

We are excited to welcome Shane to the Awhina Ora whānau as our newest Kai Rongoā.

Shane brings a wealth of mātauranga, experience, and passion for supporting the wellbeing of our community through traditional healing practices and a holistic approach to hauora.

As a tāne practitioner, Shane offers an important option for those who feel more comfortable receiving support from a male healer, helping us to better meet the diverse needs of our whānau and community.

✨ Available Mondays and Tuesdays ✨

Shane offers a space for connection, reflection, and healing, drawing on the principles of rongoā Māori to support individuals and whānau in ways that honour their unique needs and aspirations.

To book an appointment with Shane, or to find out more about the rongoā services available, please get in touch with our team. We are happy to answer any questions and help you arrange a time that suits you and your whānau.

🌅 Thankful Thursday 🌅

This week, we'd like to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to Whangārei R**e Crisis for inviting Awhina Ora to be part of their R**e Awareness Week event held at Hihiaua on 7 May 2026.

It was a privilege to stand alongside so many dedicated organisations, advocates, and community members committed to raising awareness, supporting survivors, and creating safer communities for all.

Events like these remind us of the importance of connection, education, and collective action. Meaningful change happens when communities come together, listen, support one another, and work towards a shared vision of healing and wellbeing.

Ngā mihi nui to the team at Whangārei R**e Crisis for the incredible work you do every day and for creating opportunities for important conversations to take place.

💙 We are grateful to have been part of this kaupapa and look forward to continuing to support our community together.

✨ Whakataukī o te Wiki✨

“Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini."

We are not strong alone, we are stronger together.

In a world that often encourages us to do everything on our own, this whakataukī reminds us of an important truth: our strength comes from the people around us.

Whether it's whānau, friends, colleagues, neighbours, or our wider community, we all need support at different times in our lives. There is courage not only in offering support, but also in accepting it when it is needed.

💭 Take a moment to reflect:

• Who has supported you lately?
• Have you allowed yourself to receive support?
• Who might need your support today?

Connection, kindness, and collective strength are at the heart of wellbeing. When we uplift one another, we all thrive.

💙 He waka eke noa - we are all in this together.
