• Pang-secure ng gear at equipment
• Pambigkis at pang-tali ng gamit
• Improvised guy lines para sa tarp
• Pansuspinde ng pagkain para ilayo sa hayop
• Pang-repair ng backpack straps
• Pang-secure ng improvised shelter
• Puwedeng gawing lashing para sa poles at branches
• Pang-organize ng mga gamit

🩹 DUCT TAPE
• Pansara ng punit sa tent, tarp o bag
• Pang-repair ng waterproof gear
• Pang-secure ng loose straps at cables
• Pambalot sa matutulis na bahagi ng equipment

🔥 KAPAG PINAGSAMA
Duct tape + paracord = isang maliit na repair-and-rigging kit na halos walang katapusan ang possible applications.

SAFETY GOGGLES [🥽] [🛡️]

Kapag pinag-uusapan ang survival gear, madalas nauuna sa isip natin ang flashlight, first aid kit, multitool, o tubig.

Pero may isang simple at compact na protection gear na madaling makalimutan:

Safety Goggles.

Safety goggles are designed to protect the eyes from hazards such as dust, flying particles, splashes, smoke, and other debris.

Para sa isang prepper, maliit man ito sa bag—malaki ang potential nitong protection kapag kailangan mo nang gumawa ng tasks sa isang hazardous environment.

🥽 BAKIT MAGANDA ITO SA PREPPER KIT?

Ang mata ay isa sa pinaka-sensitive na bahagi ng katawan.

Kapag may:

🌪️ Alikabok
🪵 Lumilipad na debris
💨 Usok o particles
💦 Chemical o liquid splash
🔨 Flying fragments mula sa tools

isang simpleng eye protection ay maaaring makatulong na mabawasan ang exposure ng iyong mga mata sa hazards.

🏚️ AFTER A DISASTER

Dito nagiging particularly useful ang safety goggles.

Pagkatapos ng lindol, bagyo, baha, o structural damage, maaaring may:

🧱 Basag na semento
🪟 Basag na salamin
🌫️ Alikabok at fine particles
🌿 Vegetation at debris
🔧 Repair or cleanup work

Kung kailangan mong maglinis, mag-inspect, o gumawa ng minor repairs, eye protection can be an important part of your PPE.

🌧️ AFTER A BAGYO

Malaking problema pagkatapos ng malakas na bagyo ang debris.

Maaaring may mga bubong, kahoy, sanga, alambre, alikabok, at iba pang materials na nakakalat sa paligid.

Kung kailangan mong mag-clear ng debris, huwag lang isipin ang kamay at paa.

Protektahan din ang mata. 🥽

🛠️ PARA SA DIY AT REPAIR WORK

Useful din ang safety goggles kapag gumagawa ng household tasks tulad ng:

🔨 Hammering
🪚 Cutting
🪵 Sanding
🔩 Drilling
🧹 Cleanup

Hindi kailangan maging professional worker para gumamit ng PPE.

If the task creates a hazard, use appropriate protection.

🥽 SA CAMPING AT OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

Hindi lang para sa construction ang safety goggles.

Maaari rin silang maging useful sa:

📦 ANO ANG DAPAT HANAPIN?

When choosing safety goggles, consider:

✔️ Impact protection appropriate for the intended task
✔️ Comfortable fit
✔️ Secure strap or fit
✔️ Good visibility
✔️ Scratch-resistant lenses, if available
✔️ Anti-fog features, especially for humid conditions
✔️ Appropriate certification/markings for the protection claimed
✔️ Compatibility with your other PPE

And remember:

Hindi lahat ng goggles ay pare-pareho ang protection.

Safety glasses, sealed goggles, chemical splash goggles, and specialized protective eyewear are designed for different hazards.

Choose according to the actual risk.

⚠️ SAFETY FIRST

Safety goggles are not a substitute for proper hazard assessment or other required PPE.

Kung may chemical exposure, high-velocity particles, welding, electrical hazards, o ibang specialized risks, kailangan ng protection specifically designed and rated for that hazard.

At kung hindi safe ang environment, huwag basta pumasok dahil lang may goggles ka.

PPE is one layer of protection—not a license to take unnecessary risks.

🥽 SMALL GEAR, IMPORTANT PROTECTION

Sa preparedness, minsan ang pinaka-useful na gear ay hindi naman yung pinaka-mahal o pinaka-complicated.

Isang simpleng pair of safety goggles can be valuable when you're cleaning debris, doing repairs, or working in a dusty environment.

It's also about being able to safely do the work that needs to be done afterward.

ANG MULTI-TOOL AY MALIIT, PERO MALAKI ANG UTILITY.

Sa survival at everyday preparedness, hindi naman kailangan na isang buong toolbox ang dala mo.

Minsan, isang quality multi-tool lang ay sapat para magkaroon ka ng maraming basic capabilities sa iisang compact package.

🔧 ISANG TOOL, MARAMING GAMIT
Depende sa model, maaaring may pliers, screwdrivers, wire cutters, file, saw, bottle opener, scissors, at iba pang functions.

🎒 TIPID SA SPACE
Mas compact ito kaysa magdala ng maraming individual tools. Useful lalo na sa EDC, Go Bag, vehicle kit, at camping gear.

⚙️ PANG-REPAIR
Kapag may maluwag na screw, kailangang putulin ang wire, ayusin ang maliit na equipment, o gumawa ng basic field repair, maaaring malaking tulong ang multi-tool.

🏕️ CAMPING & OUTDOOR TASKS
Mula sa pag-adjust ng equipment hanggang sa simple cutting at maintenance tasks, maraming pagkakataong magiging useful ito sa outdoor environment.

💡 PREPPER TIP:
Huwag bilangin kung ilang tools ang nakalagay sa package—tingnan kung alin talaga ang magagamit mo.

Mas mahalaga ang:

✅ Comfortable at secure na grip

✅ Reliable locking mechanism kung applicable

At tandaan: multi-tool ≠ complete toolbox. Para sa heavy-duty work, mas appropriate pa rin ang dedicated tools.

Sa preparedness, ang goal ay hindi ang pinakamadaming gamit—kundi ang pinakamagandang combination ng capability, reliability, at portability.

PORTABLE COFFEE PERCOLATOR [☕] [🔥]

Para sa maraming Pinoy, ang kape ay hindi lang basta inumin—part na ng daily routine.

A Portable Coffee Percolator is a simple brewing tool that can make coffee using heat from a stove, burner, or campfire setup, making it useful for camping, hiking, outdoor trips, and emergency situations where electricity may not be available.

☕ BAKIT MAGANDA ITO SA PREPPER KIT?

Sa bukid, gubat, camping, o remote areas, isang matibay na knife ay maaaring maging useful para sa maraming practical tasks—lalo na kapag limitado ang dala mong kagamitan.

🪵 WOOD & MATERIAL PREPARATION
Maaaring gamitin para sa controlled cutting at processing ng maliliit na natural materials, cordage, at iba pang camp materials.

🪢 ROPE & CORDAGE

ON THIS DAY — SEPTEMBER 26, 2009 🌧️

16 years ago today, Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) brought catastrophic flooding to Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

In just a matter of hours, relentless rainfall overwhelmed rivers, drainage systems, and communities. Roads became waterways. Homes were flooded. Thousands of families were forced to evacuate.

The disaster claimed hundreds of lives and caused billions of pesos in damage.

But Ondoy left us with a lesson that remains relevant today:

Flooding doesn't only happen in places far from us. It can happen in the middle of a major city.

And sometimes, you don't get days to prepare.

You get hours. Sometimes minutes.

That's why preparedness matters.

🌧️ Know if your home is in a flood-prone area.
🎒 Keep a ready-to-go emergency bag.
📱 Save emergency contacts and evacuation information offline.
🔋 Have backup power for phones and essential devices.
💧 Store safe drinking water and basic food.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Have a family evacuation and communication plan.
🚗 Know multiple routes to higher ground—and don't wait until the water is already rising.

Remembering Ondoy isn't just about looking back.

It's about asking ourselves:
