Our feed has been full of educational content lately, so we wanted to pause for a moment and share what everyday therapy actually looks like inside the clinic.

This week was filled with climbing, swinging, building, creating, learning, laughing, and lots of hard work disguised as play. Behind every activity is a purpose. Some children were working on regulation and body awareness. Others were building attention, fine motor skills, problem-solving, classroom readiness, confidence, and independence.

And while every childโ€™s goals look different, one thing remains the same: we want therapy to be a place where children feel safe, supported, and successful while working on skills that matter in everyday life.

Saturday OT slots are now full.

Good news: Weโ€™ve opened additional Friday therapy slots.

Many families prefer Saturday schedules because it fits naturally into their weekly routine.

To accommodate growing demand and help more families secure a consistent therapy schedule, we have opened a limited number of Friday therapy slots.

For many children, consistency matters more than the specific day of the week. What matters most is having a regular schedule where therapy can become part of their routine.

Our Occupational Therapy sessions are conducted 1-on-1 for a full 60 minutes by PRC-licensed Occupational Therapists, with each session individualized to your childโ€™s unique strengths, goals, and developmental needs.

If youโ€™ve been looking for a weekly OT schedule and havenโ€™t been able to secure a Saturday slot, this may be a great opportunity to get started.

What does success actually mean in therapy?

You might see your child completing puzzles, climbing obstacle courses, matching colors, or practicing handwriting during a session.

And yes, those are wonderful milestones worth celebrating.

But the goal of therapy goes beyond what happens inside the clinic.

The clinic is where skills are introduced, practiced, and strengthened.

Everyday life is where those skills become meaningful.

Success looks like:

โœจ Buttoning a school uniform independently
โœจ Participating during class activities
โœจ Following daily routines with less frustration
โœจ Sitting through family meals more comfortably
โœจ Playing with siblings and peers with greater confidence

Because the goal isnโ€™t simply to do the activity in therapy.

The goal is to use that skill in everyday life.

At GrowPlay, we focus on helping children build skills that support participation at home, in school, and in their community.

After all, therapy is not just about what a child can do in the clinic. Itโ€™s about what they can do in the life that matters most to them.

Why do children need to play?

Not just because play โ€œbuilds skills.โ€
Play is how children practice real life safely.

Through play, children experience mistakes, waiting, losing, trying again, using their bodies, solving problems, and understanding emotions.

At GrowPlay, we use play with purpose.
Because meaningful play can support attention, regulation, confidence, school readiness, and daily participation.

To every OT, SLP, SPED teacher, clinic aide, and therapy professional who needs this reminder today:

Pediatric therapy is deeply meaningful work.
It is also work that asks a lot from us.

We spend our days planning, adapting, teaching, problem-solving, documenting, communicating with families, and helping children work through challenges that may not be visible to others.

So when the clinic closes, many therapists find themselves carrying the work home in their minds:
๐Ÿ’ญ The unfinished notes.
๐Ÿ’ญ The activity ideas.
๐Ÿ’ญ The child they're worried about.
๐Ÿ’ญ The session they want to improve tomorrow.

But rest is not something that has to be earned after exhaustion. Rest is part of being able to show up consistently, patiently, and sustainably for the children and families who trust us.

So if you're reading this after a long day:
Finish your water. ๐Ÿ’ง
Eat your dinner. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ
Take the walk. ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ
Watch the show. ๐Ÿ“บ
Call a friend. ๐Ÿ“ฑ

Tomorrow's work will still be there. For tonight, take care of yourself, too. ๐ŸŒฑ

A week later, and we're still smiling about this day.

Here's a short look back at our GrowPlay x Decathlon Foundation Community Day.

While the event itself only lasted a few hours, the experience gave our children opportunities to explore a new environment, meet new people, try new activities, and participate in a community setting outside the clinic.

Sometimes growth happens during therapy sessions.

Sometimes it happens while exploring a store, joining a group, sharing ideas, or simply feeling comfortable enough to try something new.

We're grateful to our GrowPlay families, therapists, volunteers, and Decathlon Foundation for making this experience possible.

Thank you for being part of this milestone with us.

Yesterday, several GrowPlay families joined the Decathlon Foundation for a community participation event at Decathlon Pasig.

The day did not go exactly as originally planned. Because of the weather, some of the outdoor movement activities had to be adjusted.

But real-life participation is often like that.

It is not always perfectly structured, predictable, or graded like a therapy activity inside the clinic. Sometimes, participation means entering a new place, waiting with others, joining a group, trying something unfamiliar, sharing ideas, adjusting to changes, and still finding moments of connection.

During the event, the children had the opportunity to:

โœจ Explore a new community environment
โœจ Express their ideas and dreams through creative activities
โœจ Interact with peers, families, volunteers, and community members
โœจ Join a store tour and explore new spaces
โœจ Participate at their own pace
โœจ Receive recognition for showing up and joining the experience

For many children, confidence is built through repeated opportunities to experience the world with support not only inside therapy rooms, but also in real community spaces where they can practice flexibility, communication, self-expression, and social participation.

This event reminded us that meaningful participation is not about perfect performance. It is about helping children feel welcomed, supported, and included in the communities around them.

Thank you to Decathlon Foundation for welcoming our families and creating space for children to explore, connect, and participate in new experiences.

We are also grateful to our GrowPlay families, therapists, volunteers, and community partners who helped make this day possible.

Hereโ€™s to more opportunities for children to learn, play, and belong beyond the clinic walls.

Inside the GrowPlay OT favorites this week ๐Ÿงฉ

To kids, these activities feel like play.

But behind every obstacle course, sensory bin, puzzle, and pretend play setup is a specific clinical goal carefully planned by our OT team.

Here are some of the skills weโ€™ve been targeting this week:

๐ŸŽฏ Sensory Play & Shaving Cream Activities
Supporting tactile processing, sensory regulation, and early pre-writing skills through playful exploration.

๐ŸŽฏ Puzzle Obstacle Courses
Building motor planning, body coordination, balance, visual-perceptual skills, and problem-solving during movement.

๐ŸŽฏ Pretend Play & Feeding Activities
Practicing fine motor control, bilateral coordination, turn-taking, sequencing, and following directions.

At GrowPlay, we use meaningful play to help children build the everyday skills they need for learning, participation, independence, and confidence.

Swipe through to see some of our current favorite activities inside the clinic this week! โœจ

โœ๏ธ Clinical Note: All activities shown are thoughtfully planned and facilitated by PRC-Licensed Occupational Therapists.

One of the biggest things we learned today at UP-PGHโ€™s interdisciplinary dysphagia learning session:

Safe feeding is not just about the mouth.

Positioning, trunk stability, breathing, tone management, sensory regulation, and family support all play a role in helping children participate more safely and comfortably during feeding.

As OTs, it was meaningful to learn alongside a doctor, an OT, a PT, SLPs, and an RPm because pediatric feeding truly works best through interdisciplinary care.

Always grateful for opportunities to keep learning for our GrowPlay families ๐Ÿ’›

Behind every therapy session is a team making sure the space stays safe, clean, and ready for the next child. ๐Ÿงน

After a full day of sensory play, obstacle courses, movement activities, and learning sessions, our team takes time to reset the clinic for tomorrow. Because for us, a calm and organized environment matters!

Shoutout to our amazing clinic aide, Layka, for helping keep GrowPlay running smoothly every therapy day๐Ÿ’›
