June is officially observed as National Dengue Awareness Month, highlighting the critical need for community-wide prevention as the rainy season brings a surge in mosquito breeding grounds.
The Department of Health (DOH) actively campaigns for the public to practice the 4S strategy to prevent dengue:
1. Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites by covering or eliminating stagnant water.
2. Self-protection measures (e.g., using mosquito repellent, wearing long-sleeved clothing).
3. Seek early consultation at the nearest clinic or hospital if symptoms develop.
4. Support fogging or misting only in outbreak hotspots.
