According to Ezekiel 1 and Ezekiel 10, angels (specifically the cherubim in Ezekiel's vision) appeared very differently from the common image of human-like angels with wings. They had a human-like form.
Each had four faces:
Face of a man
Face of a lion
Face of an ox (or cherub)
Face of an eagle
They had four wings.
Their legs were straight, and their feet resembled a calf's hoof, shining like polished bronze.
Their appearance was radiant, like burning coals and flashes of lightning.
Beside them were mysterious wheels within wheels covered with many eyes.
The Spirit directed both the creatures and the wheels, and they moved without turning.
"Their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures."
Ezekiel 1:13
