Swimmer’s Ear: Protect Your Ears This Summer 🏊‍♂️

Swimmer’s ear (otitis externa) is an infection of the outer ear caused by trapped water that allows bacteria to grow.

How to avoid:
• Dry ears well after swimming
• Tilt head to remove trapped water
• Avoid inserting cotton buds or objects into the ear

Watch for ear pain, itching, or discharge.

ENT Red Flags You Should NEVER Ignore:

• Sudden hearing loss
• Difficulty breathing or swallowing
• Persistent nosebleeds
• A neck lump that doesn’t go away
• Severe ear pain with fever

These symptoms may require urgent medical attention. Acting early can be life-saving.
