๐ŸŽž๏ธ July 2013. I was 28. This was one of my first bodybuilding preps, for a competitive photoshoot rather than a stage. Looking back I donโ€™t just see one of the leanest physiques Iโ€™ve ever achievedโ€ฆ I see the start of a journey of continuously learning, applying what I learn to myself and gradually refining my approach to training, nutrition, sleep & stress management.

The interest these photos had generated also gave me the confidence to start sharing more of that journey, something that eventually became one of the catalysts behind Mirror Friendly. That process hasnโ€™t stopped. If anything, Iโ€™m still learning today ๐Ÿ“ถ

Staying lean and athletic was never just a goal I chased for a photoshoot or competition. Itโ€™s always been part of who I am, long before bodybuilding, having grown up on the sprint track. What has changed over the last 13 years is how I go about itโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“ Experience and education has taught me how to make healthy living more sustainable, more efficient and better aligned with long term health, leaving more time and mental energy to enjoy everything else that life has to offer. Those same lessons have shaped not only how I look after myself, but also how I coach others.

๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ I believe experience isnโ€™t measured by a single transformation or a season on stage. Itโ€™s measured by years of learning, adapting and consistently practising what you teach.

๐Ÿš€ So hereโ€™s to the next 13 years of healthy living (and continuing to share my journey with you) ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

๐Ÿซต Rememberโ€ฆ you donโ€™t have to choose between enjoying life and staying in shape.

Train consistently. Eat well most of the time. Sleep enough and find ways to manage stress. Then enjoy summer without guilt ๐Ÿ”„

Thatโ€™s what sustainable healthy living looks like in my world ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Have a great weekend and summer! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

๐ŸŽฏ Another one off the bucket list... from Lugo to Santiago de Compostela, 170k steps over 4 days to complete my 100km camino. And the best thing was that I got to do it with my brother, who had already started walking 3 weeks before me (legend!). I decided to join him for his last week and we managed to cover the distance over 4 days, instead of the 5 we had planned.

๐Ÿคฏ The Camino this week challenged me in ways I hadnโ€™t experienced beforeโ€ฆ grinding through leg & foot pain for hours on end, despite the monkey in my head trying hard to persuade me to stop, being the main one. The feeling upon finally making it to the Santiago cathedral, surrounded by other pilgrims from different walks of life, continents, beliefs and stories, made it all worth the effort ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

I would recommend this sort of experience to anyone who has personal development at heart or needs proper headspace. It is one of those that leaves an indelible impact on your life. One lady I met on the route was 84 - she walked more than double my distance and did it solo. These are the kind of people I look up to ๐Ÿ™

There are many routes that pilgrims may take, all of which lead to Santiago, and each route has a name. I walked part of the Camino primitivo. The minimum walking distance to cover to qualify for the symbolical certificate of completion is 100km, which is what I did. You get to collect stamps along the way to prove the distance walked.

Happy to guide anyone who is interested in taking on this experience. I wouldnโ€™t exclude doing it again though Iโ€™d hope that a next time would be way less painful! My first one was definitely not a walk in the park ๐Ÿ˜…

Never stop learning ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿค“ โ€ฆand this weekend was about bread making with my friend ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Regular bread uses instant yeast and is made quickly. Sourdough requires a longer waiting time because it relies on wild yeast and bacteria, which do more of the breakdown work in the dough first. That can make it easier for some peopleโ€™s digestion to handle than fast-risen bread.

If youโ€™ve been curious, this sort of workshop is a great way to see itโ€™s not as complicated as it sounds. Youโ€™ll leave with confidence and bread you actually made yourself ๐Ÿ  ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฅ–

โ€ฆthe smell at home this morning though! โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ
