𝐖𝐊𝐃 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒| The VSMMC 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, headed by Dr. Ariel S. Indo, together with fellows and secretaries, joined the Barangay Health Workers and residents of Brgy. Sambag II, Cebu City in celebrating 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 through a community outreach activity focused on promoting kidney health.

Community members benefited from free health services including:
🩺 Blood Pressure Check
🩸 Random Blood Sugar Testing
🔬 Urinalysis Dipstick Screening

Participants also received freebies and health education to support healthier lifestyles.

As part of the program, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼𝘇𝗮, a 1st Year Fellow of the VSMMC Adult Nephrology Fellowship Training Program, shared valuable insights on the importance of kidney health and discussed the 𝓔𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽 𝓖𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓷 𝓡𝓾𝓵𝓮𝓼 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓪𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓬𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓸𝓯 𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓴𝓲𝓭𝓷𝓮𝔂𝓼, empowering the community to take proactive steps toward better health.

Together, we continue to promote awareness, prevention, and early detection for better kidney health in our communities. 💙

In observance of World Kidney Day 2026, the 𝓟𝓮𝓭𝓲𝓪𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓬 𝓝𝓮𝓹𝓱𝓻𝓸𝓵𝓸𝓰𝔂 conducted an educational activity to promote awareness on kidney health and the prevention of kidney-related diseases.

The program included a health talk highlighting the importance of proper hydration, healthy lifestyle practices, and early detection in maintaining optimal kidney function.

This initiative aims to support the global advocacy of “𝙆𝙞𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙡𝙡 – 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚, 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙩.”

Kidney transplantation is more than a procedure, it’s a powerful journey of hope, healing, and new beginnings. 💚

From the long days on dialysis to the emotional wait for a match, every patient’s path is filled with courage and resilience. The transplant itself is a remarkable medical achievement, but the real story goes beyond the operating room, it’s about second chances, restored dreams, and lives made whole again.

And at the heart of it all is a donor- someone who chose to give a part of themselves so another person could live. That kind of generosity is truly life-changing, it’s the purest form of compassion and humanity.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to the entire kidney transplant team(surgeons, nephrologists, nurses, coordinators, and support staff)whose dedication, expertise, and compassion make every transplant possible. May God continue to bless you with strength, wisdom, and unwavering commitment as you give patients the gift of life. 🙏

Today, let’s spread awareness about organ donation. Say yes to giving life. One decision can save a life, heal a family, and create a legacy of hope that lives on. 💚

During this sacred season of Lent, we reflect on the ultimate act of love, Christ’s Passion and sacrifice on the cross.

In His suffering and death, Jesus gave everything so that others may live. His sacrifice was not taken, it was freely given, out of love for humanity. Through His death, we received the gift of new life.

In many ways, this mirrors the quiet heroism of deceased organ donation.

When life comes to its earthly end, one person’s final act of generosity can bring healing, hope, and a second chance at life to many others. Just like Christ, who gave of Himself so that we may live, organ donors become instruments of life even beyond death.

As Pope Francis shared in his address to the Italian Association for Organ Donation in 2014: “Organ donation is a testimony of love for our neighbor.”

Pope John Paul II also affirmed this in his Address to the 18th International Congress of the Transplantation Society in 2000: “Organ donation is a genuine act of love.”

The Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly teaches: [CCC #2296] “Organ donation after death is a noble and meritorious act and is to be encouraged as an expression of generous solidarity.”

This Lent, we are invited not only to reflect but to act. Consider making a life giving decision. Consider pledging your organs.
